Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 7/20/10

Jul 21, 2010

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Melvin Mora & Jeff Francis, Colorado Rockies
Mora went 3 for 5 with 3 runs, a HR, and 5 RBIs to raise his average to .258.  Francis gave up 3 hits with 7 Ks in 7 scoreless innings to even his record to 3-3 with a 4.63 ERA.  Neither are worthy of a fantasy spot.

Matt Diaz, Atlanta Braves
Diaz went 2 for 4 with a HR and 3 RBIs. He is 16 for 37 (.432) in his last ten games.

Pedro Alvarez, Pittsburgh Pirates
Alvarez went 2 for 4 with 2 HRs and 5 RBIs, including a Grand Slam. He raised his average to .243. Alvarez is 11 for 31 (.355) in his last eight games.

Jim Edmonds, Milwaukee Brewers
Edmonds went 4 for 5 with 2 runs, a HR, and 3 RBIs. He’s hitting .280, but shouldn’t be on fantasy teams.

Felipe Lopez, St. Louis Cardinals
Lopez went 3 for 5 with 2 runs to raise his average to .275. He has a hit in six of his last seven games with 6 runs over that stretch.

Edwin Encarnacion, Toronto Blue Jays
