Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

 

John Lannan, Washington Nationals
Lannan gave up two runs with five strikeouts in 5-1/3 innings to improve to 5-5 with a 5.13 ERA. Lannan is 3-0 with a 3.09 ERA in his past four starts.

 

Alex Sanabia, Florida Marlins
Sanabia gave up one run on four hits in 7-2/3 innings. He struck out five as he improved to 2-1 with a 3.77 ERA.

 

Bud Norris, Houston Astros
Norris gave up two runs on two hits in seven innings to improve to 6-7 with a 5.23 ERA. He’s 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA in his past two starts.

 

Brian Matusz, Baltimore Orioles
Matusz gave up five hits with six strikeouts in eight scoreless innings as he improved to to 5-12 with a 4.97 ERA.  He’s 2-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his last four starts.

 

Travis Wood, Cincinnati Reds
Wood gave up one run on four hits with six strikeouts in 6-1/3 innings to improve to 4-1 with a 2.51 ERA.
