Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.


Jhonny Peralta & Rick Porcello, Detroit Tigers
Peralta went 3 for 5 with a run to raise his average to .243. He is 7 for 14 in his last four games. Porcello gave up 2 hits in 7 scoreless innings to improve to 6-11 with a 5.43 ERA.


Adam Kennedy & , Washington Nationals
Kennedy went 2 for 5 with 3 RBIs to raise his average to .261.

Carlos Zambrano, Chicago Cubs
Zambrano gave up 1 run on 5 hits with 8 Ks in 7-1/3 innings to improve to 5-6 with a 4.64 ERA. He’s 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his past four starts.


Neil Walker, Pittsburgh Pirates
Walker went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs to raise his average to .297.


Rod Barajas, Los Angeles Dodgers
Barajas went 3 for 4 with a HR (13) and 3 RBIs (37) to raise his average to .233. Not a bad start with the Dodgers.


Felix Pie, Baltimore Orioles
Pie went 3 for 4 to raise his average to .299. He is 8 for 17 in his last five games.


Gordon Beckham, Chicago White Sox

Eric Young, Jr., Colorado Rockies

Freddy Sanchez, San Francisco Giants
