Fantasy Baseball Box Score Breakouts – 8/4/10

Aug 5, 2010

Here’s a look at the unheralded players who played well yesterday.

Paul Janish, Cincinnati Reds
Janish went 3 for 3 with a HR and 4 RBIs to raise his average to .300. He doesn’t get enough ABs to merit fantasy consideration.

Starlin Castro & Blake DeWitt, Chicago Cubs
The double play combo combined for 6 hits, 4 runs, a HR, and 4 RBIs. Castro went 4 for 5 to raise his average to .318. He’s 10 for 22 during a five-game hitting streak. DeWitt was 2 for 5 with a HR and 4 RBIs to raise his average to .276. He’s 6 for 16 with 5 RBIs in four games since joining the Cubs.

Brian Matusz, Baltimore Orioles
Matusz gave up 1 run in 6 innings to improve to 4-11 with a 5.26 ERA. This season hasn’t gone as many expected for Matusz, but he still has great potential.

Gaby Sanchez, Florida Marlins
Sanchez went 4 for 4 with an RBI (50) to raise his average to .295.
