Some reasonably available players to assist you in the Strikeouts category.  Realize that some of these will come with high ERAs & WHIPs because if a Pitcher has low numbers in those categories and a good K total, they’re already spoken for.

Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants - The Strikeout for Troops founder makes a return visit to the pool.  Zito picked up 13 Ks last week in 12-2/3 IP (9.2 K/9) while going 1-1 with a 3.55 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP.  On the year he’s 5-8 with 79 Ks, a 4.43 ERA, and a 1.37 WHIP.  He’s owned in 25% of Yahoo!, 7.8% of ESPN, and 43% of CBS leagues.

Chad Gaudin, San Diego Padres - Gaudin is also a Strikeout for Troops guy.  He picked up 11 Ks last week in 11-2/3 IP (8.5 K/9) while going 0-1 with a 5.40 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP.  On the year he’s 4-7 with 85 Ks, a 5.03 ERA, and a 1.41 WHIP.  He’s owned in 19% of Yahoo!, 3.7% of ESPN, and 22% of CBS leagues.

Jorge de la Rosa, Colorado Rockies – His K’s were a little down this week as he had 11 in 14-1/3 IP (6.9), but his ERA (1.88) and WHIP (1.12) were great.  On the year he is 6-7 with 98 Ks, a 5.08 ERA, and a 1.43 WHIP.  He’s owned in 26% of Yahoo!, 6.4% of ESPN, and 34% of CBS leagues.

Homer Bailey, Cincinnati Reds - Bailey picked up 11 Ks in 13-1/3 IP (7.4 K/9) last week a 2.70 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP.  In four starts ihe’s 1-0 with 16 Ks, a 5.16 ERA, and a 1.37 WHIP.  He’s owned in 18% of Yahoo!, 1.3% of ESPN, and 28% of CBS leagues.

Doug Davis, Arizona Diamondbacks - Davis continues to get it done.  He was 1-0 last week with 11 Ks (7.4 K/9) with a 2.02 ERA, and a 1.73 WHIP.  On the year he’s 4-8 with 84 Ks, a 3.13 ERA, and a 1.40 WHIP.   He’s owned in 39% of Yahoo!, 11.4% of ESPN, and 53% of CBS leagues.

Cincinnati is still in shock after strong back-to-back outings by Homer. He’s had good stuff and good command, which makes a huge difference! … and both outings were in hitter-friendly parks (Cincy and Philly)

    Sorry Ryan….

Barry Zito a Stikeout Pick-Up… HAHAHAHA
One week is nice, but let’s be honest here. The guy is not worth using in any format.

Actually it’s not the first time he made the list. He has 33 Ks in his last 34 Innings. Since when is a 8.7 K/9 ratio bad? In his last six starts he’s averaging 5.5 Ks. Again, that isn’t so bad. He has 5+ Ks in 9 of his 17 starts. He’s not a great option, but he’s not a laughable one.

His K ratio has increased in the last month or so, his ERA isn’t great, but he has a solid WHIP. He can be used in home starts. He’s 2-3 with a 3.27 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP, and 39 Ks in 52-1/3 IP (6.7 K/9). His K/9 is a little better on the road at 7.3, but his numbers go up.
