Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool – Strikeout Kings

Some reasonably available players to assist you in the Strikeouts category.  Realize that some of these will come with high ERAs & WHIPs because if a Pitcher has low numbers in those categories and a good K total, they’re already spoken for.  Some of these guys are middle relievers, who can help you pick up case if you are beginning to max out in Innings Pitched.

Tom Gorzelanny, Chicago Cubs – Tom had 8 Ks in 5 Innings (14.4 K/9) while going 1-1 with a 1.80 ERA and a 1.20 WHIP.  On the year he’s 5-2 with 22 Ks (22-1/3 IP), a 5.24 ERA, and a 1.16 WHIP.  He’s owned in 18% of Yahoo!, 1.1% of ESPN, and 23% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Bobby Keppel, Minnesota Twins – Keppel had 7 Ks in 5-1/3 Innings (11.8 K/9) with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.38 WHIP.  He has 10 Ks in his last three games (8 IP).  On the year he has 23 Ks, 3 Holds, a 4.37 ERA, and 1.46 WHIP in 35 Innings.  He’s owned in less than 1% of Yahoo!, ESPN, and CBS Sportsline leagues.

Tim Stauffer, San Diego Padres -  Stauffer had 7 Ks in 5 Innings (12.6 K/9) despite a 7.20 ERA and 2.00 WHIP.  On the year he has 31 Ks in 36 Innings, a 3.50 ERA, and a 1.36 WHIP.  He’s owned in 20% of Yahoo!, 0.8% of ESPN, and 10% of CBS Sportsline leagues.
