Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool – Speed Demons
Here are some reasonably available SB threats.
Brent Lillibridge, Chicago White Sox – Lillibridge isn’t much of a hitter (.150 through 9 games), but he is possesses incredible speed. You have to get on base to utilize that speed though. While he isn’t getting aboard via a hit, Lillibridge is drawing a fair amount of walks. He has seven on the season already, which brings his OBP to a respectable .370. Once he’s aboard he does his damage. In his ten times on base (3 Hits, 7 Walks) he has five Runs and three SBs. He is owned in under 1% of ESPN and Yahoo leagues. Lillibridge qualifies at SS and MI, which is a bonus because the lack of Offense isn’t as detrimental as it would be for other positions.
Michael Bourn, Houston Astros – Michael Bourn is a different story. He is an OF so it’s a little harder to accept his lack of production (0 HR, 3 RBI). Bourn is hitting .250 on the year though, which is up from the .229 he hit last year. His OBP is just .348 though. He has scored six Runs and stolen two bases last week. He’s owned in 8.8% of ESPN and 20% of Yahoo leagues.
Emmanuel Burriss, San Francisco Giants – Burriss has gone 5 for 17 (.294) over the past week to bring his season average up to .189. He scored a pair of Runs and swiped two bags last week, giving him five and three on the year respectively. He has just three Walks on the year. He is best suited for NL-only leagues. He Qualifies at 2B, SS, & MI and is owned in 2.7% of ESPN and 6% of Yahoo leagues.
I know they aren’t attractive choices or they would be spoken for, but if you are in the need for a Speed fix, maybe these three can help.
