Fantasy Baseball Free Agent Pool – Speed Demons

Just because you’ve slipped behind in the Stolen Base category doesn’t mean you can’t catch up.  Here are some reasonably available SB threats.

Brett Gardner, OF, New York Yankees – Last week Gardner led the way with 4 SBs while hitting .318 (7 for 22) with 7 Runs.  On the year he’s hitting .265 with 10 SBs, 24 Runs, 2 HRs, and 8 RBIs.  He’s owned in 8% of Yahoo!, 7.9% of ESPN, and 12% of CBS leagues.

Ben Francisco, OF, Cleveland Indians - With Grady Sizemore down, Ben becomes a more attractive option.  He stole a couple bases last week while hitting .375 (9 for 24) with 3 Runs, a HR, and 5 RBIs.  On the year he’s hitting .268 with 9 SBs, 24 Runs, 5 HRs, and 20 RBIs.  He’s owned in 20% of Yahoo!, 4% of ESPN, and 26% of CBS leagues.

Adam Kennedy, 2B/OF, Oakland A’s - Kennedy also stole 2 bases last week, but hit just .222 (6 for 27), with 3 Runs, 2 HRs, and 2 RBI.  On the year he’s hitting .372 with 5 SBs, 9 Runs, 4 HRs, and 15 RBIs.  He’s owned in 41% of Yahoo!, 16.6% of ESPN, and 39% of ESPN leagues.

Fernando Martinez, OF, New York Mets - F-Mart stole a couple bases last night to get on the list.  He was 4 for 19 (.211) with 2 Runs and 3 RBIs over the past week to start his MLB career.  He’s owned in 16% of Yahoo!, 1.4% of ESPN, and 22% of CBS leagues.

Chris Getz, 2B, Chicago White Sox - Getz had 2 SBs last week to go along with a .231 average, 4 Runs, and 4 RBIs.  On the year he’s hitting .248 with 5 SBs, 20 Runs, and 10 RBIs.  He’s owned in 4% of Yahoo!, 2.3% of ESPN, and 13% of CBS leagues.

Endy Chavez, OF, Seattle Mariners - Endy had 2 SBs while hitting .500 (7 for 14) with 4 Runs, a HR, and 4 RBIs.  On the year he’s hitting .289 with 8 SBs, 15 Runs, 2 HRs, and 13 RBIs.  He’s owned in 6% of Yahoo!, 12.5% of ESPN, and 7% of CBS leagues.

Clint Barmes, 2B/3B/SS, Colorado Rockies – Clint rounds out the 2-SB players with a .391 average (9 for 23) with 5 Runs, a HR, and 2 RBIs.  On the year he’s hitting .262 with 5 SBs, 28 Runs, 5 HRs, and 19 RBIs.  He’s owned in 38% of Yahoo!, 6.3% of ESPN, and 40% of CBS leagues.
