Some reasonably available players to assist you in the Strikeouts category.  Realize that some of these will come with high ERAs & WHIPs because if a Pitcher has low numbers in those categories and a good K total, they’re already spoken for.

Matt Palmer, Los Angeles Angels – Matt went 2-0 last week with 13 Ks, a 3.14 ERA, and a 0.84 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 8.16 and his K/BB ratio was 2.6.  On the year he’s 4-0 wit 16 Ks, a 3.38 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP.  He is owned in 10% of Yahoo!, 0.9% of ESPN, and 11% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Jordan Zimmermann, Washington Nationals – Jordan was awful last week with a 8.25 ERA and 1.50 WHIP.  He was bailed out by his Offense getting him two no-decisions.  He did manage 12 Ks though if you need help there.  His K/9 ratio was 9.0 and his K/BB ratio was 2.4.  On the year he’s 2-1 with 26 K, a 5.90 ERA, and a 1.41 WHIP.  He’s owned in 55% of Yahoo!, 13.2% of ESPN, and 62% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Jorge de la Rosa, Colorado Rockies – Jorge had a fine week with 12 Ks, a 2.25 ERA, and a 0.63 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 13.5 and his K/BB ratio was 12.0.  On the year he’s 0-3 with 35 Ks, a 3.53 ERA, and a 1.21 WHIP.  He’s owned in 19% of Yahoo!, 1.8% of ESPN, and 16% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Brandon McCarthy, Texas Rangers - McCarthy had 11 Ks last week.  He also got bombed with a 9.0 ERA and a 1.45 WHP.  His K/9 ratio was 9.0 and his K/BB ratio was 2.75.  On the year he’s 3-1 with 29 Ks, a 5.92 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP.  He is owned in 7% of Yahoo!, 1.1% of ESPN, and 22% of CBS Sportsline leagues.  With that ERA I suggest you only use him as a short-term K solution.

Brian Bannister, Kansas City Royals - Bannister is having a great start for the Royals.  Last week he was 1-1 with 10 Ks, a 1.54 ERA, and a 1.03 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 7.71 and his K/BB ratio was 5.0.  On the year he’s 3-1 with 17 Ks, a 1.80 ERA, and a 1.17 WHIP.  He’s owned in 63% of Yahoo!, 14.3% of ESPN, and 57% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants - Zito continues to pitch well despite an off game yesterday.  He picked up 10 Ks last week along with a 1-1 record, a 3.65 ERA, and 1.70 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 7.30 and his K/BB ratio was 2.0.  On the year he’s 1-3 with 29 Ks, a 3.89 ERA, and a 1.32 WHIP.  He is owned in 47% of Yahoo!, 11.3% of ESPN, and 56% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Ross Ohlendorf, Pittsburgh Pirates - Ross went 1-1 last week with 10 Ks, a 4.50 ERA, and a 0.83 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 7.50 and his K/BB ratio was 10.0.  On the year he is 4-3 with 22 Ks, a 3.77 ERA, and a 1.07 WHIP.  He is owned in 15% of Yahoo!, 2.3% of ESPN, and 27% of CBS Sportsline leagues.

Josh Outman, Oakland A’s - Josh was 1-0 last week with 9 Ks, a 3.48 ERA, and a 1.35 WHIP.  His K/9 ratio was 7.84 and his K/BB ratio was 1.8.  On the year he’s 1-0 with 25 Ks, a 4.05 ERA, and a 1.39 WHIP.  He’s owned in 2% of Yahoo!, 0.3% of ESPN, and 3% of CBS Sportsline leagues.
