Albert Pujols
hit a Grand Slam and a 3-Run HR.  Ryan Doumit went 3 for 5 with a Grand Slam.  Luis Castillo went 4 for 4 with 3 Runs.  Jason Bay went 2 for 3 with 3 Runs, 2 HRs, and 3 RBI.  Mike Napoli went 3 for 3 with 2 HRs.  Kelly Johnson went 3 for 4 with 2 Runs, a Double, a HR, and 3 RBI.  Melvin Mora hit a Grand Slam.  Nick Swisher went 2 for 3 with 3 Runs, a HR, 3 RBI, and 2 Walks.  Henry Blanco went 3 for 4 with 2 HRs.  Gerald Laird, Mike Sweeney, Rick Ankiel, Joe Thurston, Carlos Delgado, Emilio Bonificio, Jordan Schafer, Shane Victorino, Pedro Feliz, Randy Wynn, and Nyjer Morgan each had 3 Hits.  Mark DeRosa, Jose Reyes, Jorge Posada, Alfonso Soriano, Ryan Howard, Orlando Hudson, Adrian Gonzalez, and Nate McLouth had 3 RBI.

Jake Peavy gave up 3 Runs in 8-1/3 Innings with 10 Ks for his first Win of the year.  Bartolo Colon gave up 3 Hits in 6 scoreless Innings for the Win.  Jeremy Guthrie gave up 5 Hits in 6 scoreless Innings to improve to 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA.  Roy Halladay gave up 1 Run on 5 Hits with 7 Ks in a seven-Inning Win.  Paul Maholm gave up 1 Run on 3 Hits in a seven-Inning Win.  Adam Wainwright gave up 4 Hits in five scoreless Innings for the Win.  Livan Hernandez gave up 2 Runs in 6-2/3 Innings for the Win.  Eric Stults gave up 1 Run on 4 Hits in 5-1/3 Innings for the Win.  Justin Verlander gave up 1 Earned Run on 2 Hits with 8 Ks in a five-Inning no-decision.

    I give a lot of credit to Nick Swisher. Coming over to NY, getting a lot of criticism, lots of trade rumors, and very little expectations. He’s done an outstanding job so far (he’s no Albert Pujols…) and for a team missing Mark T. he’s been productive.
