Fantasy Baseball Players of the Day – 4/24

Three-way tie for the top batting honors last night.  Felipe Lopez went 2 for 4 with 1 Run, a Grand Slam, and 6 RBI.  Magglio Ordonez went 3 for 4 with 2 Runs, 2 HRs, and 4 RBI.  Donnie Murphy went 3 for 5 with 3 Runs, 2 HRs, and 4 RBI.  Grady Sizemore had four hits.  Lance Berkman (3 RBI), Chase Utley, Ryan Braun, Bill Hall, Gary Matthews, Jr. (3 RBI), Manny Ramirez, Rajai Davis, Scott Posednik, Victor Martinez, Miguel Olivo, Josh Willingham, Chipper Jones, Yadier Molina, Luis Castillo, Carl Crawford, Adam Jones each had three hits.

Cliff Lee countinued his mastery with a complete game three-hit shutout.  He didn’t walk a batter and struck out 9.  He’s 4-0 with a 0.28 ERA.  Tim Lincecum threw 6-1/3 shutout innings allowing 4 hits while striking out 9 to improve to 4-0 with a 1.23 ERA.  He outdueled Chris Young who allowed 1 run in 7 innings on 2 hits with 10 Ks.  Aaron Cook  8 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 5 Ks) outdueled Jason Marquis (7 innings, 2 runs, 4 Ks).  On the year Cook is 3-1 with 2.91 ERA.  Zach Miner pitched 3-1/3 innings of scoreless relief to earn a win.  Jamie Moyer (6 innings, 1 run, 4 Ks) and Jeff Suppan (7 innings, 1 run, 3 Ks) each got no-decisions in their pitchers’ duel.  Justin Masterson pitched 6 innings allowing 1 run, but got a no-decision as Boston’s bullpen imploded.  Greg Smith threw 7 innings allowing 2 runs to improve to 2-0 with a 2.88 ERA.  Joel Pinero allowed 1 run on 4 hits in 7 innings with 6 Ks for his first win of the year.  Chad Billingsley allowed 5 runs and took a loss, but he struck out 12.
