Fantasy Baseball Profile – Kosuke Fukudome

After winning a contest on my Sporting News site wassup471 got to pick which player I would profile on my site for next year.  I was thinking football, but wassup471 threw me a curve ball and requested Kosuke Fukudome.  So I’ll stand tall in the batter’s box and take a cut at predicting how Kosuke’s season will go.

It would be s disservice to his time with the Chunichi Dragons to label Kosuke a rookie.  Technically he is, but he has plenty of experience under his belt.  In his nine seasons Kosuke batted .305 with 1175 hits in 3852 at bats.  He has scored 713 runs, hit 264 doubles, 38 triples, 192 home runs, and drove in 647 runs.

Kosuke is a patient hitter.  Being in a lineup with Alfonso Soriano, Derrek Lee, and Aramis Ramirez should help for a smooth transition to the National League.

I’m guessing he’ll hit .275 in 450 At Bats (124 hits), with 20 Doubles, 2 Triples, and 15 Home Runs.  He’ll score around 70 runs and drive in 65.  He’ll steal 8 bases.  This is a hard player to project because we don’t know how he’ll do against MLB pitching.  How accurate will my predictons be?  Fukudome if I know.

Thanks for allowing me to throw a kink in the plans! I didn’t know squat about him before I read this- should be interesting how your projections pan out. You’re right, he’s a tough one!

No problem. I didn’t know much about him before writing this. Still don’t know a whole lot about him.
