Fantasy Baseball Weekly Wonders Vol. 13
A look back at the past week in baseball to bring you the surprising stars.
Pitcher
Kevin Slowey - Starting pitching has been great on the Twins’ current 11-1 run. Slowey has been one of their finest. In the past week he went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.47 WHIP in 15 Innings with 15 Ks without a Walk. Since getting bombed by the White Sox on June 8th, Slowey has allowed 3 Runs in 29 Innings (0.93 ERA).
Catcher
Jason Kendall - How about Milwaukee’s Jason Kendall for a blast from the past? He turned 34 on Thursday and hit .333 (6 of 18) last week. He added 2 Runs, an RBI, a Walk, and a SB. Not too bad for a grizzled vet.
Corner Infielder
Ryan Gload - Kansas City’s Gload was hitting a load last week with his .450 batting averaged (9 or 20). He added 6 Runs, 3 Doubles, a HR, 6 RBI, and 3 Walks. As an added bonus, he qualifies at OF as well in Yahoo leagues.
Middle Infielder
Willie Harris - Washington’s Willie Harris was hot last week. The Georgia native went 7 of 19 (.368) with 3 Runs, a Triple, a HR, an RBI, 3 Walks, and 2 SBs. Willie turned 30 on Sunday, June 22nd.
Outfielder
Jim Edmonds - Kendall isn’t the only grizzled vet that tore it up last week. Chicago Cubs’ Jim Edmonds stepped back in time to go 6 of 19 (.316) with 5 Runs, 3 HRs, 6 RBI, and 6 Walks. He also celebrated a birthday last week, turning 38 on Friday.
