Here is a a look back at the past week in baseball to bring you the surprising stars.

Paul Byrd - The Byrd is the Word.  At least he was for Cleveland last week.  He went 2-0 with a 0.61 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 5 Ks in 14-2/3 Innings.  He took out Minnesota and Detroit in lowering his ERA from 5.28 to 4.72.

John Baker
- Florida’s John Baker made a splash last week going 8 for 21 (.381) with 5 Runs, a Double, 2 HRs, 7 RBI, and 4 Walks.  He had a hit in all but one game last week

Corner Infielder
Ramon Vazquez - Another Ranger makes the grade.  This time it’s Third Baseman Ramon Vazquez.  He went 9 for 19 (.474) with 3 Runs, 3 Doubles, a HR, 8 RBI, and a Walk.  He had a hit in all but one game last week, including a four hit/four RBI effort vs. Seattle.  As a bonus, he qualifies at 2B, 3B, and SS in Yahoo Leagues.

Middle Infielder
César Izturis
- His brother Macier made the list in Volume 10.  This time it’s St. Louis’ César tearing it up.  He went 7 for 22 (.318) with 6 Runs, a Double, 3 RBI, a Walk, and a SB last week.  He hit .411 vs. Atlanta and scored a Run in five straight games last week.

Joe Mather - St. Louis produces it’s 3rd FBWW OFer this year (Ludwick and Schumaker before him).  This time it’s Joe Mather.  He went 9 of 31 (.290) with 7 Runs, 2 Doubles, 3 HRs, 7 RBI, and a Walk.  He lit up Atlanta in a four-game series goint 7 of 19 (.368) with 6 Runs, 2 Doubles, 2 HRs, and 4 RBIs.
