Fantasy Baseball Weekly Wonders Vol. 22

Sep 1, 2008

Here is a a look back at the past week in baseball to bring you the surprising stars.

Ryan Rowland-Smith - Just because Seattle stinks and they are out of it doesn’t mean they have given up.  RRS is case and point.  Last week the Lefty beat the playoff Twins and the Red Hot Indians.  He sported a 2.02 ERA and a 1.12 WHIP in his 13-1/3 Innings of work.  He struck out 7 along the way.

Nick Hundley
- September call-ups are coming so this will be an easier task next week.  This week though, San Diego’s Nick Hundley was a solid choice.  He went 5 for 14 (.357) with 4 Runs, 2 HRs, 3 RBI, and a Walk.  He scored a run in all four games he played in last week.

Corner Infielder
Martin Prado - Atlanta’s Martin Prado qualifies at 1B, 2B, and 3B in Yahoo leagues.  Last week he was holding down the First Base gig while going 10 of 25 (.400) with 5 Runs, 5 Doubles, a HR, 6 RBI, and 2 Walks.  He had a hit in all but one game last week with four multiple-hit games.

Middle Infielder
Emmanuel Burriss
- San Francisco’s Burriss went 8 for 18 (.444) with 5 Runs, a HR, 2 RBI, and 3 Walks.  He had four multiple-hit games last week.  As a bonus he qualifies at both 2B & SS in Yahoo leagues.

Chris Dickerson - The future is now for Cincinnati, and Dickerson looks to be part of that future.  Last week he went 7 for 21 (.333) with 7 Runs, a Double, a Triple, a HR, 4 RBI, 5 Walks, and 2 SBs.  He had a Hit in all but one game last week.
