Fantasy Football: Bonus Week 4 Waiver Pick-ups

Sep 28, 2010

.
We always weigh in early on waiver wire Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em pick-ups. There are, however, some more options based on injuries and such. Here are some additional options to consider.
.
Davone Bess, WR, Miami Dolphins:  The Patriots have struggled to stop the pass this season. Bess had 16 catches for 173 yards and a score against them last year. He makes a decent spot start this week if you have issues at WR.
.
LeGarrette Blount, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers:  Cadillac Williams is not producing like we expected him to (139 yards, 2.5 ypg, 0 TDs). Meanwhile Blound had six carries for 27 yards and a score against the Steelers. The Bucs are on bye this week, which should help your chances of landing him.
.
Kenneth Darby, RB, St. Louis Rams:  Steven Jackson’s groin could force him out of action against Seattle. There won’t be a mad dash for Darby like there was a couple of weeks ago for Brandon Jackson following Ryan Grant’s injury, but he could be a starting RB if you were hurting.
.
Aaron Hernandez & Rob Gronkowski, TEs, New England Patriots:  With Witten, Shiancoe, Winslow, and the surprising Tony Moeaki on bye this week, the Patriots’ TE duo make interesting plays against Miami. Hernandez is the yardage guy (211 yards), and the one to target first. He could possibly stick around on your roster depending on your TE situation. Gronkowski is the TD threat (2 TDs).
.
Laurence Maroney, RB, Denver Broncos:  If Knowshon Moreno is unable to play again look for Maroney to get the lion’s share of the work in the running game against Tennessee. He’ll still be in a time share with Correll Buckhalter so temper your expectations.
.
Willis McGahee, RB, Baltimore Ravens:  Ray Rice is banged up. He could miss the Steelers game. It’s far from a dream match-up if McGahee gets the start, but in bye weeks sometimes you’re desperate..
Maurice Morris, RB, Detroit Lions:  Jahvid Best is dealing with turf toe. That is a very debilitating injury (just ask Darren McFadden). Morris could be thrust into the starter roll if Best can’t give it a go against Green Bay. Kevin Smith could also share the load, but I doubt the Lions would give him too many touches in his first game back from his ACL injury.
.
Louis Murphy, WR, Oakland Raiders:  I didn’t mention Murphy in the Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em article because he’s been so productive  (15 catches, 238 yards, TD). If he happens to be available in your league, you should snatch him up quickly.
.
Ryan Torain, RB, Washington Redskins:  It’s still Clinton Portis’ job in the nation’s capital, but Torain played well in his debut with seven carries for 46 yards. His value would soar if Portis were to go down.
.
Roy Williams, WR, Dallas Cowboys:  Like Murphy, Williams was too far on the radar to mention in the Get ‘em article, but I can’t omit him from a second article just in case he’s floating out there in your league.

I’m surprised Keiland Williams got no carries

That surprised me a bit too. Torain is a Shanny guy though.
