Fantasy Football Contest: How Many Yards Will Randy Moss Have on Revis Island?

Last week we gave away a wine rack to Tommy the Swammy who, with a prediction of 393 yards, was the closest (without going over) to predicting the combined passing yards by Drew Brees and Brett Favre in the season opener.

MMA Industries was kind enough to offer a $15 gift certificate so we can run another contest this week. MMA Industries was kind enough to offer a $15 gift certificate so we can run another contest this week. They sell MMA shirts, other MMA clothing, and even MMA gear if you want to get into the sport.
.

Upon scanning this week’s schedule the game that stood out to me the most was the Patriots-Jets game. While the Peyton-Eli match-up is intriguing, we did a QB contest last week. Plus, Randy Moss vs. Darrelle Revis is a little more contentious, which makes for a better contest.
.

That said, this week’s challenge is to predict (without going over) how many receiving yards Randy Moss gets against the New York Jets.

34 yards… both guys will be motivated, but I think the Pats do a lot more work on the ground with Jenkins out and Taylor looking good.

I hope you’re way low LEV. I do agree with your reasoning though.

The real question is if the Jets will learn from their Week 1 mistakes and have Revis shadow Moss (unlike what they did with Anquan Boldin). The truth is, the Jets are just cocky enough not to change, which means Moss will get opportunities to torch the rest of the Jets secondary.

That said, I’ll go with 102 yards

I like that pick. Still hope you’re low.

42 yards. Revis shuts him down and Brady goes to Welker.

Does Moss have another odd press conference after the game?

26.5 yds/game vs. Jets over 2008 and 2009. It ain’t looking too good.

I’ll be generous and go 50 yards.

Jets will bring the blitz. In turn, it’s Welker’s day to shine in the short passing game. Moss goes for 47 yards

I almost wonder if the Jets will try to shut down Welker and make Moss beat them.

  51. Jefferson "Gonzo" Gonzalez
    September 18th, 2010 at 11:32 pm #

Randy Moss will get at least 114 yards receiving against Revis Island. The Jets corner is an amazing talent, but a motivated “Freak” like Randy Moss is just too athletic for one man to cover all day long. Brady will hit him deep a couple of times. Moss wants to prove he is not a “slouch” in a contract year – the timing is ideal for Randy to respond to criticism and put on a show. Great matchup inside the matchup…Fun Stuff!!

  52. Ben Schaefer
    September 19th, 2010 at 12:01 am #

I agree with Gonzo – he’s gonna break a big one or two and make decent numbers. Especially with Revis pretty much staying on one side of the field last week, and with Moss wanting to play well rather than complain (although he does plenty of that too), I’m giving him 89 yards and a score.

  53. LestersLegends
    September 19th, 2010 at 6:11 am #

Gonzo – totally agree. Moss plays when he wants to play, and this could be one of those days. It would be really interesting if Revis was at full strength. I know if I were Moss I would be motivated after hearing about Revis Island since last year.

    6, 23, 34, 37, 38, 42, 47, 50, 52, 72, 73, 78, 79, 80, 82, 83, 89, 95, 102, 105, 106, 114, 115, 116, 121, 130

  54. LestersLegends
    September 19th, 2010 at 6:15 am #

Ben – The Pats only pay the players that can’t be replaced. Moss may try to prove that he’s one of those players. What bigger stage to do that than against their new heated rival.
