Fantasy Football Pitfalls – Week 4

Sep 23, 2008

I’m going to look at the matchups each week and pick five fantasy starters that could be in for a tough week.  Here’s a look at players who could struggle this week.

Quarterback
Brian Griese
- If you think you can just plug Griese in and expect similar numbers as last week, you’ll be sadly mistaken.  Green Bay will provide a much better game plan to limit Griese and Antonio Bryant.  I look for him to throw at least a couple of picks and under 250 yards.
Stat Line:  15 of 30 for 149 yards, TD, 3 INTs

Running Backs
Adrian Peterson
-  He’s been running wild.  Am I off my rocker?  He didn’t look himself for much of the Carolina game (although he still managed close to 80 yards).  He has to take his show on the road vs. a tough Tennesse Run D.  I see another subpar game for All Day.
Stat Line:  18 carries for 80 yards, 2 TDs, 4 catches for 21 yards

Chris Johnson  – In case you haven’t figured it out, this is going to be a clash of two incredible Run Defenses.  LenDale White may reach paydirt, but Chris Johnson is going to be in for a LONG day.  His saving grace could be the screen pass.
Stat Line:  17 carries for 61 yards, 2 TDs, 3 catches for 14 yards

Wide Receiver
Torry Holt
- Buffalo’s Pass D has been solid.  They allowed 156 passing yards, over half of which came on a 84 yard TD strike.  They have to go on the road to St. Louis, but I’m not getting a warm feeling for Bulger, Holt, and the Ram passing game.
Stat Line:  4 catches for 65 yards

Roddy White - Roddy had a solid game this week, but they were playing Kansas City.  Carolina should present a much more difficult test for Roddy.  They are playing on the road and against a tough D.  This isn’t Roddy’s week to dominate.
Stat Line:  7 catches for 90 yards

Don’t forget last year AP’s best two games came against teams with solid defenses. He destroyed Chicago and set the record against the Chargers.

you forgot to mention the biggest fantasy hole so far this year — the Cleveland Browns. All of them. I’d start any one of your pitfalls over the browns every week. I bet the brown could find a way to lose even if they played a team that didn’t have an offensive line…or a denfensive line…or for that matter, an offense…and/or a defense…you see where I’m going with this.
