Fantasy Football Pitfalls – Week 5

Sep 30, 2008

I’m going to look at the matchups each week and pick five fantasy starters that could be in for a tough week.  Here’s a look at players who could struggle this week.

J.T. O’Sullivan
- If you’ve been riding the J.T. O’Sullivan wave, be warned, it could get bumpy this week.  He gets to face a New England team coming off a bye after beeing humiliated by the Dolphins.  That wouldn’t be fun for any QB, but it’s even worse for one with as little experience as J.T. has.
Stat Line:  14 of 29 for 130 yards, 3 TDs, 3 INTs, 23 rushing yards

Running Backs
Michael Turner
-  If you think he’s going to bounce back from a mediocre performance, guess again.  His two big games came against Detroit and Kansas City.  They both have awful Defenses.  Green Bay will provide a much stiffer test, especially at home.
Stat Line:  26 carries for 121 yards, TD

Rudi Johnson  – He had a nice game for Detroit prior to the bye, but I’m not expecting him to follow it up with a big performance vs. the Bears.  If you grabbed him off the waiver wire in hopes he returns to his old form, you’ll have to wait a little longer.
Stat Line:  5 carries for 23 yards, 3 catches for 9 yards (further proof PPR leagues are silly)

Wide Receiver
Matt Jones
- Crackman has been pretty solid to date, but that will change when he faces Pittsburgh this week.  Even though they are at home, I don’t expect Jones to be highly productive.
Stat Line:

Santana Moss - Santana has been on fire, but he will draw Asante Samuel next week in Philly.  He’ll make life tough on the speedy veteran.
Stat Line:  Did not catch a pass.
