Fantasy Football: Sneaky Week 10 Pick-ups

If your roster is pretty much set this week you may want to take a peak ahead to next week. I know you hear the phrase one opponent at a time, but that’s not the case in fantasyland. While people are struggling to fill out this week’s roster, be proactive and get a step ahead of them. Here are some targets with favorable Week 10 match-ups.
David Garrard, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
While most are jumping off the Garrard train because of the bye, you could deftly pick him up because he plays Houston and Cleveland coming out of the break.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Buffalo Bills
If you are in a bind at QB in Week 10, Fitzpatrick does take on the Lions. With a decent running game and three WRs that can move the chains, Fitzpatrick is looking like the first half Kyle Orton.
Matthew Stafford, QB, Detroit Lions
Most may be scared of his match-up against the Jets this week, but if you have a roster spot for him, he takes on Buffalo in Week 10. If he gets hurt against the Jets, you just cut him.
Josh Freeman, QB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Good week for QBs. Freeman has played decent enough this season, but he’s not blowing anybody away. He should turn in a solid game this week against Atlanta and next week against Carolina. Even if you don’t use him, you could be defensive and stash him so nobody else in your league can use him.
Mark Sanchez, QB, New York Jets
Sanchez has a trio of favorable match-ups starting this week against Detroit, followed by Cleveland and Houston. If you like to look ahead, Sanchez may be your guy.
Fred Jackson, RB, Buffalo Bills
Starting RBs generally aren’t available at this point of the season, but if Jackson happens to be out there, note that he does face Detroit next week.
Justin Forsett, RB, Seattle Seahawks
If you are in a bind next week, Forsett should at least get a handful of carries, along with a few targets in the passing game. He makes a decent desperation play against Arizona.
Steve Breaston, WR, Arizona Cardinals
The Seahawks have struggled to stop the pass, and Breaston could absolutely be in line for a rock solid performance against them in Week 10.
Mario Manningham, WR, New York Giants
Manningham is a decent play this week against Seattle, and should be solid next week too against Dallas.
Mike Thomas, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
Mike Sims-Walker will garner the attention, but Thomas could also have a nice game coming out of the bye against Houston.
Seyi Ajirotutu, WR, San Diego Chargers
Going a little deeper with this one. Ajirotutu caught three passes for 48 yards last week. They will be going into the bye in Week 10, but if he has a big game against Houston, which wouldn’t be too big of a surprise given their defense, he will be a hot commodity on the waiver wire. You could be a step ahead of the game by grabbing him now.
John Carlson, TE, Seattle Seahawks
Carlson has just one game of at least 50 yards this year. He caught his lone touchdown that week. That means six games with fewer than 50 yards without a TD to salvage the week for fantasy owners. That all could change next week when he takes on Arizona.
Detroit Lions Defense
The Lions have 23 sacks and have forced 17 turnovers (8 INTs, 8 fumbles). Next week they face the Bills, which makes them an early favorite to be a top eight defense.
Seattle Seahawks Defense
The Seahawks got blitzed last week, but a date with Arizona looms in the horizon. That could make everybody forget about the 33-3 loss to the Raiders.
