Fantasy Hoops Waiver Wire Bin Vol. 1

Nov 9, 2009

I’ve scoured the fantasy basketball waiver wires to find gems so you don’t have to.

Quentin Richarsdon, SG/SF, Miami Heat
Q is averaging 10.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.2 blocks, and 2.2 three-pointers on the year. He’s shooting 48.1 percent from the field and 43.3 percent from downtown, and is averaging just 1.0 turnover per game. He qualifies at SG and SF. Richardson has a $2.48M salary cap number in the Sporting News salary cap game, and is owned in 33 percent of Yahoo! and 7.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

Kelenna Azubuike, SG/SF, Golden State Warriors
Azubuike also qualifies at SG & SG. He is averaging 12.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.6 turnovers, 0.2 steals, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 three-pointers on the year. He’s shooting 63.3 percent from the field, 66.7 percent from the line, and 46.2 percent from behind the arc. Azubuike has a $4.26M SN cap number, and is owned in 31 percent of Yahoo! and 4.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

Chuck Hayes, SF/PF/C, Houston Rockets
Hayes qualifies at three positions giving him nice flexibility, especially in daily transaction leagues. He’s averaging 7.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 turnovers, 2.3 steals, and 0.7 blocks. Hayes is shooting 62.2 percent from the floor. He has a $1.83 SN cap number and is owned in 22 percent of Yahoo! and 3 percent of ESPN leagues.

Marreese Speights, PF/C, Philadelphia 76ers
Speights has been a bit inconsistent, but is averaging 13.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 0.8 assists, 1.2 turnovers, 0.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks. He’s shooting 64.0 percent from the floor and 85.0 percent from the line. Speights has a SN cap number of $2.20M and is owned in 39 percent of Yahoo! and 23.9 percent of ESPN leagues.

Anderson Varejao, PF/C, Cleveland Cavaliers
I kind of figured that Shaq’s presence would hurt Varejao’s fantasy value, but he’s been better than ever on the glass. The Brazilian big man is averaging 8.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.9 turnovers, 1.7 steals, and 0.9 blocks on the year. He’s shooting 51.1 percent from the floor and 70.6 percent from the line. Varejao has a $3.54M SN cap number and is owned in 56 percent of Yahoo! and 12.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

Shane Battier, SF, Houston Rockets
Battier is doing a little bit of everything averaging 9.8 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.8 turnovers, 1.0 steals, 0.8 blocks, and 1.5 three-pointers on the year. He’s shooting 38.6 percent from the field, 88.9 percent from the line, and 36 percent from downtown. Battier has a $3.81M SN cap number and is owned in 53 percent of Yahoo and 37.7 percent of ESPN leagues.

Erick Dampier, C, Dallas Mavericks
Dampier is killing it on the glass averaging 9.7 rebounds to go with 8.8 points, 0.7 assits, 1.0 turnover, 0.2 steals, and 2.5 blocks on the year. He’s shooting 64.7 percent from the field and 56.3 percent from the line. Dampier has a $3.38M SN cap number and is owned in 41 percent of Yahoo! and 10.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

Travis Outlaw, SF/PF, Portland Trail Blazers
Outlaw is averaging 12.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, 0.9 assits, 1.0 turnover, 0.9 steals, 1.0 block, and 1.4 three-pointers on the year. He’s shooting 42.5 percent from the floor, 90.0 percent from the line, and 45.5 percent from three. He has a SN cap number of $3.09M and is owned in 41 percent of Yahoo! and 7.4 percent of ESPN leagues.

Carl Landry, SF/PF, Houston Rockets
Landry is averaging 14.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 0.7 assists, 1.5 turnovers, 0.5 steals, and 0.7 blocks on the year. He’s shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and 90.9 percent from the line. Landry has a SN cap number of $2.46M and is owned in 27 percent if Yahoo! and 7.2 percent of ESPN leagues.

Yeah, he is good. It’s tough with that team because Nellie is so fickle.
