Fantasy Trader’s Football Roundtable: Top Ten Drop-off QBs

Mar 30, 2010

I’ve been invited to participate in Fantasy Trader’s fantasy football roundtable.

This week’s topic:
Who are your top 10 fantasy QBs that you believe could struggle to repeat?

My response:
1. Brett Favre: Even though I assume he’s going to be back, there is a small chance that he finally hangs it up for good. Even if he comes back, he set his bar so high last year throwing 33 TDs vs. 7 INTs. I can’t imagine he’ll have as magical a season in 2010.

2.  Kyle Orton:  As much as he gets ripped, Orton did complete 62% of his passes for 3802 yards. He had 21 TDs to just 12 INTs. The Broncos brought in Brady Quinn, who could eventually take over the starting job if Orton or the Broncos struggle.

3.  Ben Roethlisberger:  Big Ben threw for 4328 yards with 26 TDs to 12 INTs. It was his first time topping 4000 yards. It’s not that I don’t think he’s capable of putting up big numbers, but I feel Pittsburgh will run more in 2010. Oh, and did I forget to mention that Big Ben could miss some time if Roger Goodell sees his latest accusation as conduct detrimental to the league.

4.  Jason Campbell:  If the Redskins select a QB in the upcoming NFL Draft, Campbell could in the very least be replaced at the end of the year.

5.  Matt Hasselbeck:  If Seattle struggles the Seahawks could take a look at what Charlie Whitehurst brings to the table.

6.  Matt Schaub:  First of all Schaub has an injury history. Plus, he set his bar so high with 4770 passing yards and 29 TDs. Even if he stays healthy, those will be tough numbers to match.

7.  Jake Delhomme:  Even if he wins the Cleveland starting gig, the odds of him holding that position long enough to throw for 2015 yards like last year are slim.

8.  Marc Bulger:  I don’t see any scenario where Bulger will throw for the 1469 yards he did last year. Heck, he may not even find work when St. Louis eventually cuts him.

9.  Kerry Collins:  Unless Vince Young has a monumental collapse, Kerry Collins will be holding the clipboard for the Titans in 2010.

10.  Daunte Culpepper:  Unless we’re counting UFL stats, Culpepper likely won’t top the 945 yards he had last year.
