File Under “Shut the Heck Up”
The NBA Playoffs have been pretty solid thus far. Cleveland has had the most dominating opening rounds in NBA history. The Celtics-Bulls series was one for the ages. Houston beating the Lakers without Yao Ming was stunning. However, two incidents over the weekend left me annoyed.
I’ll start with Mark Cuban. If you have beef with Kenyon Martin, say something to him. It is cowardly to run to his Mom and call her son a thug or a punk, or whatever he said. Instead of personally apologizing to Kenyon and his Mom, he wrote one on his blog. He offered K-Mart’s family a free suite should the series return to Dallas. I like the gesture, but wouldn’t a phone call apology been the right thing to do?
Even more annoying is Ernest Provetti demanding an apology from Glen “Big Baby” Davis for, according to Provetti, “acting like a “raging animal with no regard for fans’ personal safety” following his game-winning jumper. Really? Big Baby hit the jumper on the sideline, backed up a few steps and headed towards his bench to celebrate. He brushed up against the ref and innocently bumped into Provetti’s son knocking off his hat. The kid was not knocked to the ground. Let it go. Here’s a look at the video:
Equally annoying was Davis’ lengthy celebration. Be like Barry Sanders and act like you’ve been there before.
Though I didn’t feel it was necessary, Big Baby Davis did apologize for bumping 12-year old Nicholas Provetti following his game-winning celebration.
