Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em Week 8

Oct 29, 2007

There were some unusual heroes on Sunday.  There always are.  Let’s take a look at them and see if they are worth of your fantasy rosters.

QBs

Many of you likely dropped Smith following his injury.  He had 190 yards passing and a TD to go along with 16 rushing yards.   He does have some nice mathups coming up against St. Louis, Cincinnait, and Minnesota.  May not be a bad insurance policy.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
Quinn Gray – Yes, he got the W.  However, he did NOTHING.  100 yards and a TD.  Not cutting it.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

RBs
Justin Fargas – He’s in a crowded backfield, but he looked good last week amassing 97 total yards on 15 touches.  Earlier this year he had a 179 yard game.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.

Adimchinobe Echemandu – He had 73 total yards for Houston against San Diego.  Ron Dayne is ahead of him on the depth chart.  So is Ahman Green, who can’t stay healthy.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.
Michael Bennett – Sure he scored a TD, but his 23 total yards do nothing for me.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em.

WRs
David Patten – Brees is feeling it.  Patten had 109 yards on 5 catches.  He’s had 100 or more in two of his last three contests.  You know what that means.
Ruling:  Get ‘em.
Ted Ginn, Jr. – He scored his first NFL touchdown.  It was his only catch though.  Until Miami decides to get him more involved in the offense, there’s a great spot for him on the waiver wire.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em

TEs
Vernon Davis – He also may have been dropped because of injuries.  Don’t stop at go.  Don’t collect your $200.  Go snatch up Davis if you have the chance.
Ruling – Get ‘em.
Visanthe Shiancoe – He scored his first TD of the year.  He also caught 5 passes, which gives him 12 in his last three.  You can’t use him against San Diego next week.  The byes are almost over.  You’re probably best to let him stew a little longer in the free agent soup.
Ruling:  Don’t Sweat ‘em

There you have it.  I hope I provided you some good info while you make your fantasy team waiver wire adjustments.
