Jake Peavy Vetoes Trade to White Sox

The deal that would send Jake Peavy from the San Diego Padres to the Chicago White Sox could hit a snag because of Peavy’s unwillingness to waive his no-trade clause.  Peavy’s agent, Barry Axelord, informed ESPN.com’s Jerry Crasnick that Peavy prefers that National League.

Personally I wouldn’t blame Peavy for vetoing the deal.  If you’re going to be traded, wouldn’t you want to go to a contender.  Not that he couldn’t make the White Sox a contender, but a move to Atlanta, the Angels, Mets, or Cardinals would be more attractive options.  What I would really like, taking off my Red Sox hat for a minute, if he were to go to Toronto.  I’d like to see them go for it much like Milwaukee did last year acquiring C.C. Sabathia.

***UPDATE***
Peavy vetoes trade.

Sox do have young pitching they could part with.

I am not sure if I would trade the Young guys even though Peavy is pretty young too. The sox have a chance to have 4 28 or younger pitchers and a 75 year old who is still in his prime.

I don’t think Peavy will do well in the AL, but I think he is definitely worth taking a chance on. Good move by the White Sox, if the Red Sox would have pulled this off I would have gone into panic as a Yankee fan. Having him as their #3 starter would have been killer. I’m guessing he’ll be the #1 for the ChiSox

He’d be a #1 on either Sox team.

I dont think he would take Beckett out of his “Ace” role in beantown. Maybe ahead of Daiskue at #2. Either way, he didn’t go so all is well in Yankeeland. Arod hasn’t been seen with his cousin again has he??

Yankee fans were in a panic last off season–2007-2008 when the thought of Santana going to the Sox

The way Beckett is pitching right now, Peavy would be the ace, but it doesn’t matter.

If Beckett got his stuff together he’d be the ace in the playoffs though. He has proven his worth there.

The White Sox should be competitive enough to keep pace with the others. I really like the White Sox ; they’ve always been my favourite teams in MLB.Just read about them here:
