Javon Walker going under the knife
Javon Walker was considered a game-time decision back in Week 4. He missed that game, as well as the Week 5 tilt against San Diego. Denver had their bye in Week 6 and Walker had returned to practice. He had some problems though, and has decided to have knee surgery today to take care of those problems. Mike Shanahan said he’ll be out “a few weeks”. Shanahan is about the last person in the world I like to rely on when it comes to injuries. Only Bill Belichick is worse, in my opinion. However, the doctors say he will likely miss the next four weeks. Pretty much the best case scenario is he’s back in Week 11 when Denver takes on Tennessee. After that they face Chicago, Oakland, Kansas City, Houston, San Diego, and Minnesotat (although do fantasy owners even care about Week 17). There are still some decent matchups that makes holding onto Walker make sense. However, if he has any setbacks along the way, you’re best of to cut ties and get someone on your roster that can help.
Fantasy Football Hint:
This really is a no-brainer, but just take my foolishness as a warning. If you make multiple trade offers that include a particular players, make sure cancel all trade offers he’s involved in. I ended up trading away Chad Johnson, Kevin Curtis, LenDale White, Todd Heap, and Dallas DEF for Javon Walker (when I thought he was going to return this week), Donald Driver, and Shaun Alexander. It may not look like that bad of a deal for me, except for the fact that I have Ronnie Brown and Edge as my RBs (meaning SA is a backup). I have Dallas Clark and JAX DEF so I wasn’t losing much at TE or K. I upgraded at RB, however my WR corps took a hit. I am already short-handed with Andre Johnson hurting, but I figured if I could deal Ocho and get a great 3rd RB as well as two quality starting WRs, I would be in great shape. I would have Andre Johnson, Javon Walker, and Donald Driver as my WR. I thought that was an improvement over Andre & Chad Johnson and Brandon Marshall, Kevin Curtis, or Santana Moss. When I found out Walker was having surgery I cancelled a trade offer. However, later I found out that there was an offer I didn’t cancel.
Wow, I wrote more about my little problem than about Javon Walker. You can read about Walker many places, but only here can you see me expose my stupidity. I’m sure some of you can relate. The rest can laugh at my misfortune.
