ESPN is reporting that Jon Gruden will replace Tony Kornheiser on the Monday Night Football broadcast team that includes Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski.  They have tried and failed to find the right personality on MNF with Dennis Miller, Rush Limbaugh, and Kornheiser.  Adding a fiery personality like Chucky, with his extensive football knowledge, just might work.  He wants to return to coaching so it will only be a short-time fix, but one I’m intrigued by.  Gruden was part of one of my favorite golf stories when he caddied for John Daly at the 2008 PODS Championship after spending a rain delay in the Hooter’s Owl Nest.

Kornheiser cites his fear of air travel as his primary reason to step down.  He will continue to work on PTI.
