LestersLegends Mock Draft – Round 9

Aug 12, 2008

The legendary Paul Charchian was kind enough to do a mock draft with 11 ordinary fantasy football players (myself included).  We are greatful at the opportunity to both learn from Charch as well as bragging rights with our friends because we were able to do a mock draft with a fantasy football icon.  Here are the guidelines.

Round 9
Jon – Justin Fargas
Has been a decent back despite Oakland’s offensive woes, and could steal goal line carries from D-Mac.
Previous Picks:  LT, Andre Johnson, Torry Holt, Greg Jennings, Michael Turner, San Diego DEF, Matt Hasselbeck, Donte Stallworth

Tom – Aaron Rodgers
Previous Picks:  Adrian Peterson, Willis McGahee, Chad Johnson, Jeremy Shockey, Calvin Johnson, Brett Favre, Bernard Berrian, Deuce McAllister

David – Jay Cutler
Previous Picks:  Brian Westbrook, Drew Brees, Plaxico Burress, Darren McFadden, Dwayne Bowe, LenDale White, Anthony Gonzalez, Heath Miller

Awesome - New England Defense
Previous Picks:  Randy Moss, Marques Colston, Steve Smith, Ronnie Brown, Thomas Jones, Donovan McNabb, Julius Jones, Marc Bulger

Jason – Darrell Jackson
Previous Picks:  Steven Jackson, Peyton Manning, Laurence Maroney, Chris Cooley, Santana Moss, Donald Driver, Joey Galloway, Ahman Green

Luis – Devin Hester
Even though he has Rex Grossman throwing to him (big minus) I think with a year in that offense under his belt he will be a big play target. Plus he’s always good for a return score or two. Without Berrian and Muhammad, the passing game rests on his shoulders. I think he’s up to the challenge.
Previous Picks:  Marion Barber, Tony Romo, Wes Welker, Tony Gonzalez, Edge, Earnest Graham, Laveranues Coles, DAL DEF

Ryan (Me) – Felix Jones
I am surprised a Cowboy got by Luis.  Felix gives me further RB depth and first round potential if MB3 were to go down.  I like that he’s excelled as part of a RBBC in college (with McFadden), and is going to a team that’s willing to split carries (Julius Jones) to the point where both backs are viable options.
Previous Picks:  Joseph Addai, Braylon Edwards, Jamal Lewis, Carson Palmer, Brandon Marshall, Jerricho Cotchery, Selvin Young, Nate Burleson

Dan – DeAngelo Williams
Previous Picks:  Frank Gore, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Ryan Grant, Kellen Winslow, Lee Evans, Derek Anderson, Fred Taylor, Jerry Porter

Jase – Kevin Curtis
Previous Picks:  Tom Brady, Maurice Jones-Drew, Willie Parker, Santonio Holmes, Marvin Harrison, Kevin Smith, Javon Walker, Owen Daniels

Paul Charchian - Eli Manning
Previous Picks:  Reggie Wayne, Larry Fitzgerald, Jason Witten, Brandon Jacobs, Chris Chambers, Jonathan Stewart, Matt Forte, Hines Ward

Captain Fantastic - Patrick Crayton
Previous Picks:  Larry Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, Antonio Gates, Roy Williams, Big Ben, Roddy White,  Chester Taylor, MN DEF

Joe – Todd Heap
Previous Picks:  Clinton Portis, T.O., Reggie Bush, Anquan Boldin, Rudi Johnson, Dallas Clark, Reggie Brown, Philip Rivers

Feel free to leave a comment (pro or con) about the picks.

    Biggest Surprise – D(is for Drop)-Jax
It’s beginning to look like a turn-back-the-clock team for Jason with S. Moss, Driver, Galloway, Ahman, and D-Jax going with his last five picks.

Kevin Curtis – I’m surprised he lasted as long as he did given the number of WRs that have went already.

I almost took Kevin Curtis instead of Fargas, but decided I needed more help at RB than WR.

Fargas wasn’t a bad pick at all.
