MLB Injury Report
Jun 5, 2009

Jose Reyes has a tear in his hamstring that will delay his return from the DL. As a player that relies on his speed, the injury is much more serious for Reyes than it would be for a slugger. Hopefully this injury doesn’t linger into July. Reyes is hitting .279 with 18 Runs, 2 HRs, 15 RBIs, and 11 SBs in 36 games.

Reyes’ teammate J.J. Putz could be on the shelf a while if he undergoes elbow surgery like the Daily News is suggesting. Putz is 1-4 with 2 Saves, 10 Holds, a 5.22 ERA, and a 1.64 WHIP.

The Cardinals will place Righty Kyle Lohse on the DL. Lohse injured his forearm in his last start on Wednesday vs. the Reds. He could miss upwards of a month. Brad Thompson will fill Lohse’s spot in the rotation. Lohse is 4-4 with a 3.99 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Thompson has a 4.12 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP in ten games (one start). He has just 6 Ks in 19-2/3 Innings so he has very little fantasy value.
