MLB Injury Updates: Josh Hamilton and Jack Wilson

May 12, 2009

Josh Hamilton set to return today to the Texas Rangers.  He missed thirteen games with a strained rib cage.  He was hitting just .242 with 8 Runs, 2 HRs, 10 RBIs, and 3 SBs in 16 games.  He went 2 for 5 with 2 Runs, a Double, and 3 Walks in two rehab games for Triple-A Oklahoma City.  Andruw Jones, David Murphy, and Marlon Byrd will receive fewer At Bats with Hamilton back in the lineup.  Texas is first in the AL West with a 17-14 record.

Cellar Dweller Pittsburgh will get one of their pieces back when SS Jack Wilson returns today.  Wilson missed 15 games with a sprained finger.  On the year he’s hitting .255 with 3 Runs, and 7 RBIs.  He hit .333 with 2 Doubles and 3 RBIs in three rehab games for Triple-A Indianapolis.  Brian Bixler will return to Indianapolis.  He was obviously overmatched at the Major League Level hitting .200 with 18 Strikeouts in 25 At Bats.
