My 2007-2008 Fantasy Hoops team

Oct 31, 2007

I’ve been doing a fantasy hoops league with college friends for a few years now.  It’s a ten man league that starts PG, SG, G, SF, PF, F, C, C, and two Utility Players.  The scoring categories are FG%, FT%, 3 pointers made, Points, Rebounds, Assists, Steals, Blocks, and Turnovers.

My philosophy was to draft a “big” team.  Bigger players tend to be better at FG%, Rebounds, Blocks, and Turnovers.  If I can win the scoring battle, I should be fine every week.  3 pointers and assists will be a lost battle.  FT% could go either way.

Here’s my team:
PG  Kirk Hinrich
SG  Luol Deng
G  Stephon Marbury
SF  LeBron James
PF  Zach Randolph
F  Al Harrington
C  Al Jefferson
C  Carlos Boozer
Util  Drew Gooden
Util  Grant Hill
Bench  David West
Bench  Raja Bell
Bench  Mike Conley, Jr.
Bench  Elton Brand (I’ll stash him away and hopefully get a boost the last couple months of the season)

I like my team.  Some younger guys who are going to be up-and-comers like Hinrich, Deng, and Jefferson.  Some proven studs like LBJ and Boozer.  A couple of gambles in Zach Randolph (how will moving to NY treat him), Grant Hill (injuries, injuries, and injuries), Mike Conley, Jr. (rookie), and Elton Brand (will he return in time to help).  Marbury and Gooden do little for me, but they are decent.  I like David West, especially if he can stay healthy.

That’s my squad.  I think it’s decent.  We’ll see how it turns out.
