My 2008 Fantasy Football Keeper League

Aug 11, 2008

OK, so I did my draft on Sunday, August 10th.  I don’t know why we did it so early, but that’s another conversation.  It’s an eight-man Keeper League that is in its third go round.  My Keepers were Larry Johnson, Marshawn Lynch, and Andre Johnson.

Here’s how my draft played out:

Keepers:
Larry Johnson
Marshawn Lynch
Andre Johnson

Round 4:  Wes Welker – Nearly impossible to cover.  I still say if he caught 20 passes the Pats would have won the Super Bowl last year.  The G-Men had no answer for him.
Round 5:  Jonathan Stewart – LJ insurance.  Could be my keeper next year.
Round 6:  Roy Williams – Big, strong WR.  Great value as a 3rd WR.
Round 7:  Chris Chambers – Great 4th WR.  I expect a solid year for him in SD.
Round 8:  Edge – Value pick.  Insurance in case Stewart isn’t ready to be my main backup.
Round 9:  Jerricho Cotchery – Until Favre signed I didn’t put him on a great year.  With Favre, he could be special.
Round 10:  Matt Hasselbeck – It was time to grab a QB before I had major concerns at the position.
Round 11:  Felix Jones – Insurance pick.  Could be huge if MB3 got hurt.
Round 12:  Donald Driver – Old Reliable.  Could be Aaron Rodgers safety net.
Round 13:  Owen Daniels – With the big four taken early, I waited and got a value pick.
Round 14:  Marc Bulger – Backup with Starter potential.
Round 15:  Vernon Davis – Could have great year with Martz’s offense.
Round 16:  Jacksonville Defense – Good, tough D.
Round 17:  Phil Dawson – Kicker for high-powered Offense.  If they aren’t as good in the Red Zone next year, I could be Golden.
