NBA Notes: The Passing of a Legend and a Familiar Fate

May 9, 2009

Legendary Hall of Fame Coach Chuck Daly lost his bout with cancer this morning.  He was 78.  Daly led the Pistons to back-to-back championships and coached the original Dream Team.  He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1996.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

Yao Ming is out for the remainder of the season with a broken foot.  He was relatively healthy this year after missing significant time the previous three seasons.  He should be fine for the start of next year, but I’m afraid that he will be plagued with foot issues his whole career.

    RIP Chuck Daly.

With Yao out with a broken foot … I guess this puts the official “it’s over” stamp on the Rocket’s season. There is no way they beat the Lakers without Yao … of course I didn’t think they would take the Lakers out anyway, but now it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that the Lakers/Rockets series is over.

Agree. I half want the Lakers out cause I’m sick of hearing about them, but I’d love to see a cavs-lakers or by some wild stretch a celtics-lakers finals
