NFL – Everyone Wants to Get Paid

May 29, 2009

It seems like everybody in the NFL is looking for a new deal.  From clowns like Brandon Marshall to good guys like Donald Driver to vets like Thomas Jones.   Here’s a new flash.  You signed those deals while times were good.  We’re in a recession now.  Fans don’t have the disposable income to drop down a couple hundred bucks to go watch games live.  There will be sellouts, but it will be a tougher sell.  Now’s not the ideal time to be looking for a raise.  My two cents anyway.

Awesome, I’m glad you said it Les. Thomas Jones I kind of understand since running backs have such short careers, not that it makes it any better but I kinda understand). I think owners should be allowed to hold out for better contracts when big money guys stop putting up numbers. It’ll never happen because of the Union, but it would be awesome. “Listen, you made $9 million last year and you caught 3 TD’s, we’re gonna hold out until you agree to a new salary of $4 million/year. Let us know when you want to get this done.”

Thanks guys. I kind of agree too about Jones. Driver is an aging WR. I like him, but how much does he have in the tank?
