NFL Week 4 Fantasy Fill-ins

Sep 26, 2008

Putting the final piece of your fantasy football puzzle together

Bye weeks are here.  I’ve uncovered some guys you can plug in to your lineup if you are dealing with byes, an injury, or tough matchups.

QB
Trent Edwards
- J.T. O’Sullivan is a good play against the Saints, but I mentioned them this week.  Cincy and Cleveland face each other so those two Duds should be decent plays.  Detroit is on bye so no help there.  Oh wait, there’s St. Louis.  They suck out loud too.  Trent Edwards should be able to connect deep with Lee Evans and get some decent fantasy points.
Stat Line:  15 of 25 for 197 yards, TD, INT

RB
Correll Buckhalter - They are saying Westbrook will play, but I’ve got to think that Buck will get a heavier load to play it safe.  If the Birds get up big early, Westy could get the afternoon off.  Either way he’ll likely get the work in the red zone.
Stat Line:  16 carries for 66 yards, TD, 2 catches for 24 yards

Selvin Young - Heck, I’ll endorse him again.  He’s going up against Kansas City.  They are TERRIBLE.  He should be able to put up some decent numbers this week.
Stat Line:  11 carries for 49 yards

Chris Perry - It’s a six-team bye week so I figure I’ll give you a bonus entry.  Perry faces Cleveland so he should be able to produce.  I see this being a shootout with fantasy numbers across the board.
Stat Line:  12 carries for 28 yards, 5 catches for 15 yards

WR
Robert Meachem -  If you’ve been following my site this week you know that I’m high on Meachem.  New Orleans is a pass first team.  Colston and Shockey are hurt.  Patten hurt his groin last week.  I get the feeling Meachem will be a big factor this weekend.
Stat Line:  2 catches for 99 yards, TD

Isaac Bruce -  Bruce gets to face-off with Meachem this week.  He has the easier matchup as the Saints D is bad.  I’m not ready to crown the 49ers the Greatest Show yet, but Bruce makes a nice play this weekend.
Stat Line:  5 catches for 54 yards, TD

Justin Gage - He gets to face the Vikings Pass Defense.  If Collins isn’t on his back half of the game, Gage could quietly have a nice game this week.
Stat Line:  5 catches for 92 yards

TE
Bo Scaife - Scaife had a big Week 1 and could be in for another if Minnesota brings the heat and he’s the hot read.
Stat Line:  3 catches for 17 yards

K
Rian Lindell
- St. Louis has allowed 32 points (6 FGs, 14 PATs) already, meaning he could be a busy guy on Sunday.  Lindell has 24 points (5 FGs, 9 PATs).
Stat Line:  3 FGs, 2 PATs

DEF
Denver
- They play Kansas City this week.  Are you sensing a pattern?  They haven’t done much yet, but the Broncos should be a decent play this week.
Stat Line:  1 Fumble, 1 Sack

Nice picks, we all have to be more creative with bye weeks in full effect. Why not go matchup crazy and pick up players who are going against awful defenses.
