Out on a Fantasy Football Limb Volume 16
I’m going back out on that fantasy football limb. I will pick five players I believe will score more points this week than a higher profile player. The scoring will be 6 points for rushing or receiving TD, 4 points for a passing TD, .1 points per yard for rushing or receiving and .05 points per passing yard. I will also do a Super Stretch Pick where I take a real longshot. First, I’ll recap last week.
Ben Roethlisberger 20.8 beat Matt Hasselbeck 18.8 WHICH I GOT WRONG.
Big Ben didn’t need the two points I spotted him.
Edgerrin James 9.5 beat Marion Barber 3.2 as I predicted.
Earnest Graham 17.9 beat Maurice Jones-Drew 11.9 (9.9 a ctual +2 spotted) as I predicted.
Torry Holt 8.1 beat Lee Evans 3.6 WHICH I GOT WRONG.
Chris Chambers 7.8 beat Roddy White 0.4 as I predicted.
Adrian Peterson 21.5 crushed Ryan Grant 12.0 WHICH I GOT WRONG.
Regular Picks: 3-2
Super Stretch Picks: 0-1
Breakdown: QB: 0-1, RB: 2-1, WR: 1-1
Regular Picks: 35-40-1
Super Stretch Picks: 12-3
Breakdown: QB: 7-10, RB: 24-14-1, WR: 15-19
This Week’s Picks
Vince Young over Jay Cutler
They came in the league at the same time. Vince Yound has a better record as a starter, but Cutler has been the better fantasy play this year. This week, though, I think it’s Vince Young who makes the better fantasy play. I think the Madden Curse gets a rest this week as he faces the Jets. Cutler has a much tougher matchup against San Diego.
LaDainian Tomlinson over Frank Gore and Ryan Grant Combined
It almost seems as if LT is stepping up his game just for the fantasy football playoffs. He’s been a beast the past three weeks. Facing Denver’s weak sauce run defense should carry many an LT owner to their Super Bowl victory. Frank Gore was great last week, but it won’t be as easy against Tampa Bay. Ryan Grant faces Chicago, who looked decent against the run against Minnesota.
Brian Westbrook over Adrian Peterson +2
I’ll take All Day on once again. I’ll even spot him two points. I’m taking Brian “Please don’t take another knee” Westbrook on the road over All Day at home.
Hines Ward over Torry Holt
It’s fun doing head-to-head games. This one is no exception. These are two WRs who play hard and let their actions speak louder than their celebrations. Pittsburgh’s D will be the difference in this one.
Greg Jennings over Donald Driver +3
They got the wrong guy. Greg Jennings should have made the Pro Bowl over his teammate Donald Driver. He’s scored in ten of the twelve games he’s played this year. I’ll spot Driver 3 and still like my chances.
Kenny Watson over Clinton Portis
Rudi was a dud last weekend. He should be a winner this weekend though facing Cleveland. Clinton Portis will have to get involved in the passing game if he wants to have a solid game against Minnesota.
Rudi isn’t playing so I’m subbing in Kenny Watson so I have a chance.
