Out on a Fantasy Football Limb Volume 8

Oct 25, 2007

I’m going back out on that fantasy football limb. I will pick five players I believe will score more points this week than a higher profile player. The scoring will be 6 points for rushing or receiving TD, 4 points for a passing TD, .1 points per yard for rushing or receiving and .05 points per passing yard. I will also do a Super Stretch Pick where I take a real longshot. First, I’ll recap last week.

Last Week
Ben Roethlisberger 32.5 beat Jeff Garcia 24.8 WHICH I GOT WRONG.
Frank Gore 11.1 beat Shaun Alexander 6.5 WHICH I GOT WRONG.
LenDale White 18.6 beat Marion Barber III 16.5 as I predicted.
Joey Galloway 4.6 beat Roy Williams 2.3 as I predicted.
Larry Fitzgerald 9.7 beat Patrick Crayton 1.9 WHICH I GOT WRONG.

Super Stretch
Kevin Walter 15.7 beat Marvin Harrison 1.6 as I predicted.

Regular Picks: 2-3
Super Stretch Picks: 1-0
Overall: 3-3
Breakdown: QB: 0-1, RB: 1-1, WR: 2-1

Season Record
Regular Picks: 18-17
Super Stretch Picks: 5-2
Overall: 23-19
Breakdown: QB: 5-4, RB: 12-5, WR: 6-10

This Week’s Picks
Brian Griese over Peyton Manning
Griese has the luxury of playing against Detroit. They are terrible against the pass. Manning is going on the road against Carolina. Manning is not putting up the gaudy stats of years past.

Brandon Jacobs over Clinton Portis
Portis has been much better than most anticipated this year. He draws a tough matchup against New England though. Jacobs should destroy Miami in “Old” England.

Reggie Bush over Frank Gore
The teams go head-to-head, why not do the same with the RBs. I’ll take Bush over Gore in this Presidential rematch.

Muhsin Muhammad over Donald Driver
Moose will have a big day along with Griese. Driver will struggle with Favre against Denver.

Santonio Holmes over Marques Colston
Holmes should have a field day against Cincinnati. Colston will struggle to get open against Nate Clements.

Jesse Chapman over Earnest Graham +2
Graham is coming off a monster game against Detroit. Life won’t be that easy this week as Jacksonville is the draw. I’ll spot him 20 yards and still think he gets outplayed by his Florida counterpart.

What did you think of my predictions? Do you have any fantasy upsets in mind? Please leave your comments.
