Here are some pitchers that you can plug into your lineup today.
Kevin Millwood, Baltimore Orioles
Millwood’s first win of 2010 continues to elude him. He’s 0-5, but has a 3.69 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 41 Ks in 53-2/3 IP. He’s facing the Royals, not exactly an offensive juggernaut, at home where he has a 3.25 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and .222 BAA. He does face Greinke, who has also found wins hard to come by, so I wouldn’t expect him to win, but he should put up solid numbers elsewhere.
Result: No Decision, 8 IP, 3 Runs, 7 Ks
Ben Sheets, Oakland A’s
Sheets also faces an ace (King Felix) so I guess I’m not locked in on wins today. Seattle does have an anemic offense though so his peripherals should be solid. Sheets is 2-3 with a 5.70 ERA, 1.66 WHIP, and 32 Ks in 42-2/3 innings. He is pitching at home though, where he’s been a completely different pitcher with a 2-1 record, a 2.31 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and a .207 BAA.
Result: No Decision, 6-2/3 IP, 4 Runs, 5 Ks
