Zambrano makes his return to the rotation. As an added benefit he gets to face the Pirates. He lowered his ERA from 7.45 to 6.12 in his bullpen stint. He’s pitching at home where his ERA is 4.15 this year.

    Zambrano has a favorable matchup, but it is his first start back in the rotation. That scares me, because you just don’t know how many pitches the Cubs are going to let him throw. If he’s on a 90 pitch count, it’s possible you only get 4 innings or so.

    Right now, it’s not worth the risk.

    If you already have a low ERA and WHIP for the week, probably not, but if you are looking to pick up some innings to lower it, it’s worth the gamble. You can also just pick him up and stash him away hoping he regains form.
