Revised NFL Playoff Fantasy Football Rankings

Jan 6, 2009

Well, my rankings took a nosedive when Indianapolis got knocked out.  I had them pegged for another Super Bowl title.  Instead they got sent packing because they couldn’t stop the little Big Man (Darren Sproles) and/or avoid costly penalties on Defense.

Before you start your playoff rankings you need to figure out how many games you expect each team to play.  I’m going with Baltimore and Carolina now in the Super Bowl so here is how my new breakdown goes:

Baltimore – 3
Carolina – 3
New York – 2
Pittsburgh – 2
Arizona – 1
Philadelphia – 1
San Diego – 1
Tennessee – 1

Here are my top players per position based on my above playoff projections:

1.  Jake Delhomme2.
2.  Joe Flacco
3.  Eli Manning
4.  Ben Roethlisberger
5.  Kurt Warner
6.  Donovan McNabb
7.  Philip Rivers
8.  Kerry Collins

1.  DeAngelo Williams
2.  Le’Ron McClain
3.  Brandon Jacobs
4.  Jonathan Stewart
5.  Willie Parker
6.  Brian Westbrook
7.  Derek Ward
8.  LenDale White

1.  Steve Smith
2.  Derrick Mason
3.  Muhsin Muhammad
4.  Hines Ward
5.  Santonio Holmes
6.  Dominik Hixon
7.  Mark Clayton
8.  Larry Fitzgerald

Awesome! Glad to see some people picking those two team in the big game, as that’s two of the teams I’ve bet on for the playoff challenge. The other team (Eagles) was more out of the fact that I already had Westbrook picked. If the Ravens miss, I’m toast, but if either Carolina or Philly miss I can still make the necessary corrections.

I’m toast as I thought Indy would be the team. Baltimore’s D looks really tough.

    As usual well done.

Last week I said 3 bird teams could be a good pick – and then they do it. Not sure if the aviaries can do it again. With no clear-cut (in my view) team in the final 8, this round is tough to pick. Meanwhile, I concur with you on Carolina, thus better get DeAngelo on my TSN roster.

Nice job picking the birds. They all face tough matchups this week, but you never know. Yeah, DeAngelo is a must I believe. Plus, he’s a good value in most of the leagues I’m in.

Which 2 WR’s should I take for this week’s divisional round other than Steve Smith? HELP!

Depends. If all are available I’d do Fitz and Hines Ward. If you have to fit it a salary cap I’d say Muhsin and Mason are decent plays.

I already have Fitz in my salary cap league, and thought about adding Panthers-Smith to replace Roddy White, which is just about an even $$ trade. Do you think “Big Ben” (headache) will be on target enough to make him and Ward the best combo pick, or should I stick with Warner/Fitz combo instead?

I like the Fitz Warner combo better for this week, but I see Big Ben and Ward playing more games. If you aren’t restricted by moves I’d go with the Cards. If you are I think the Steelers duo is safer.

Here it is: QB, RB, RB, RB, WR, WR, WR, K, D, & TE (all positions required by fantasy league).
Delhomme, Westbrook, Williams, Sproles, Fitz, Smith(Car), Muhsin, Stover, Carolina, Boss – Staying under a 105mil salary cap limit.

No restrictions in this league, it’s Head 2 Head matchup.

I like that team. Make sure Boss can go. If not see if you can squeeze Miller in. San Diego has been bad at covering TE’s this year.

  15. I got a Ravens Joe Flacco Jersey

I really liked your blog with the Ravens mention! A Super Bowl maybe this year?!?
