The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Pittsburgh Pirate Catcher extraordinaire Ryan Doumit landed on the 15-Day DL.  He is scheduled to have wrist surgery on Thursday, which will sideline him for eight-to-ten weeks.  The official diagnosis is a “slightly displaced fracture in the scaphoid bone”.  Doumit is hitting .244 with 5 Runs, 2 HRs, and 9 RBI.  Last year he hit .318.

Jason Jaramillo will take over the Catcher duties for Doumit.  He’s three for eight (.375) on the year.  Don’t expect anywhere near Doumit’s production as Jaramillo hit just .266 in AAA last year for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.  The Pirates called up Robinzon Diaz from AAA Indianaplolis to fill the roster spot.  Diaz is hitting .350 for Indianpolis.  He has hit .304 in 586 Minor League games.
