Scott Clemmensen vs. Marc-Andre Fleury
Pittsburgh’s Marc-Andre Fleury is owned in 98% of Yahoo and 100% of ESPN leagues. Meanwhile, New Jersey’s Scott Clemmensen is owned in 69% of Yahoo and 68.4% of ESPN leagues. I understand that Pittsburgh made it to the Stanley Cup last year and have a couple of the NHL’s most dynamic players in Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. They aren’t a good team though. They currently occupy the 10th seed in the Eastern Conference with 50 points, meaning if the season ended today they wouldn’t make the Stanley Cup playoffs. Meanwhile, New Jersey is third in the Eastern Conference with 63 points. Scott Clemmensen is a big reason why.
Let’s take a look at the numbers:
Fleury: 15-12-2, 2.81 GAA, .910 Save Percentage
Clemmensen: 20-91-, 2.25 GAA, .923 Save Percentage
Clearly Clemmensen is playing superior hockey.
Last Month Totals
Fleury: 4-6-0, 2.72 GAA, .913 Save Percentage
Clemmensen: 8-4-0, 2.41 GAA, .921 Save Percentage
Clemmensen has widened the gap even more over the past month. Currently, he’s riding a five game winning streak in which he has a 1.6 GAA and a .945 Save Percentage.
Martin Brodeur should be back in a month or so, but maybe it’s time to get Clemmensen on your squad until Brodeur is back in full swing.
