Should You Be Starting Jeremy Maclin?

Nov 9, 2012

.

I do believe that Jeremy Maclin is one of the most gifted receivers in the league, which pains me to even consider not using him. While a player like Larry Fitzgerald can overcome bad quarterback play and still deliver for fantasy owners, I’m not sure the same case can be made for Maclin. Should he be in your starting lineups?
.
Michael Vick has been awful. He enters the week ranked 28th in passer rating. He has thrown nine interceptions and lost three fumbles. I’m not going to hang it all on Mike as his line has been equally as bad, but he at least shares some of the blame. Andy Reid and his hideous mustache are also on the hook for the mess in Philly.
.
Maclin has been held below 4o yards in five of seven games. In only one of those games did he score so that is four games with fewer than four fantasy points in non-PPR leagues.
.
He has scored in three games, but in one he had 23 yards, making it five of seven games with fewer than 8.4 fantasy points. That’s not cutting it.
.
In the past two games Maclin is averaging 30.5 yards. That is totally unacceptable.
.
The Eagles face the Cowboys this week, which could prove to be another tough one. Then things should pick up.
.
Entering Week 10 there are two teams that have allowed 300+ passing yards per game. Maclin gets three cracks at them as the Eagles take on Washington twice and Tampa Bay once.
.
The Eagles also face Dallas again, Carolina and Cincinnati.
.
I don’t blame you if you pick and choose when to use Maclin, but with some juicy matchups, including Washington in most league’s fantasy championship, things should be looking up for Maclin owners.
