Although most fantasy leagues are probably already in the books for 2012, there are some leagues that have business to take care of in week 17. Though I personally end my leagues week 16, I have a certain bit of admiration for those who choose to take the plunge in week 17.
.
Week 17, historically, has easily been the most fascinating week of the year from a fantasy prospective. With teams starting to rest their studs for the playoffs, or shutting down injury weary vets for the season, many players that have carried fantasy teams will be silent on Sunday.
.
With that being said, if you are still playing this week, there is business to take care of; winning you a championship. Here are guys that I think will produce much differently than their season averages to this point.
.
Cam Newton
He could be the hottest quarterback in the NFL not named Russell Wilson. Couple this with the fact that he is playing against the Saints and it’s going to be a big day for Cam.
.
Eli Manning
.
Phillip Rivers
The Raiders pass defense has been getting better recently, but Phillip is auditioning for his job in 2013, so I would expect him to leave the Chargers with a good lasting memory of him. I think he could be top 12 easily.
.
Tony Romo
In what figures to be one of the best games of the season, I expect a total dual between Romo and RG3. Romo has been hot and I expect him to get the better of the rookie.
.
Shonn Greene
The Bills give up the most fantasy points to opposing running backs of any team in the league. Greene has put up double-digit points in three of his last four. He is very safe.
.
Montell Owens
.
Alfred Morris
If the Redskins are going to beat the Cowboys, it’s going to have to come, in part, on the ground. They are susceptible to the run and have been great against the pass. I love Morris this, and every week.
.
Knowshon Moreno
.
Steve Smith
The Panthers are playing the Saints. Smith should go off.
.
Dez Bryant
Everything I said about Romo is true of Bryant as well. He’s one of the hottest receivers in football and the ‘Boys should be airing it out all game long.
.
Hakeem Nicks
.
Pierre Garcon
.
Tony Moeaki
Moeaki has a great matchup against the Broncos who give up an average of 9.9 points per game to opposing tight ends. He is more of a desperation play though.
.
Aaron Hernandez
Call it a hunch, but I have a feeling that Aaron Hernandez goes off this week versus the Dolphins.
