Super Bowl Comparison – Tight Ends

Jan 23, 2009

I continue the Super Bowl comparisons with a look at the Tight Ends.  This is perhaps the biggest Super Bowl mismatch.

Heath Miller has developed into one of the games best Tight Ends.  He has good size (6’5″, 256 Lbs.) and quickness.  In the regular season he caught 48 passes for 514 yards and 3 TDs.  He has added 99 yards and a TD on six catches in the playoffs.  He scored against San Diego and had an impressive 62 yards against Baltimore.  The Steelers also have Matt Spaeth, who hasn’t caught a pass in the playoffs, but had 17 catches in the regular season.  That’s nearly double what 6’8″ Leonard Pope caught in the regular season for Arizona.  He had nine catches for 77 yards.  He has 21 yards in three playoff games.  They also have second-year guy Ben Patrick, who caught 11 passes in the regular season for 104 yards and one pass in the playoffs.  Like I said this one isn’t even close.

Advantage:  Pittsburgh
