hit a pair of HRs (one a Grand Slam) and drove in 5 Runs.  Kevin Millar and Adam LaRoche each hit a pair of solo shot and scored 3 Runs.  Endy Chavez had 4 Hits.  Denard Span, Alexei Ramirez, Magglio Ordonez, Matt Stairs, Willy Taveras, Michal Youngand  Chris Davis (3 Runs) each had 3 Hits.  Joe Inglett, Mark Reynolds, and David Murphy each had 3 RBI.

Joba Chamberlain tossed 7 scoreless Innings allowing 3 Hits with 9 Ks as he improved to 3-3 with a 2.30 ERA.  Josh Beckett gave up 1 Run in 7 Innings with 6 Ks, but took the heartbreaking Loss.  Cliff Lee continued his push for the Cy Young allowing 2 Runs on 6 Hits in 8 Innings with 10 Ks to improve to 14-2 with a 2.29 ERA.  Ryan Dempster gave up 1 Run on 2 Hits (although he walked 6) with 6 Ks in a no-decision.  Jair Jurrjens tossed 8 scoreless Innings allowing 3 Hits with 6 Ks to improve to 10-5 with a 3.02 ERA.  Aaron Cook gave up 1 Run on 5 Hits in 8 Innings to improve to 13-6 with a 3.46 ERA.  Mike Pelfrey gave up 1 Run in 7 Innings to improve to 9-6 with a 3.367 ERA.  Wandy Rodriguez gave up 1 Run in 6 Innings with 7 Ks to improve to   6-3 with a 3.18 ERA.  Dan Haren gave up 2 Runs in 8 Innings with 9 Ks to improve to 10-5 with a 2.56 ERA.  Chad Billingsley gave up 2 Runs on 5 Hits in 7-2/3 Innings to improve to 10-9 with a 3.26 ERA.

2008 MLB All-Star Game

took home MVP honors going 2 for 4 with a Run, a HR, 2 RBI, a Walk, and a SB.  Home Run Derby Champ Justin Morneau went 2 for 4 with 2 Runs (including the game-winner), a Double, and a Walk.  The NL got solid offensive contributions from their Shortstops as Hanley Ramirez and Miguel Tejada each went 2 for 3 with a Run.  Tejada added a Walk and a SB.  Albert Pujols also collected two Hits.  Matt Holliday clubbed a HR for the game’s first Run.  It was the NL’s only Extra-base Hit.

Obviously pitchers don’t last long in All-Star Games, but a few performances stood out.  Starters Cliff Lee and Ben Sheets each allowed 1 Hit in 2 scoreless Innings with 3 Ks.  Aaron Cook had the longest outing throwin 3 scoreless Innings.  Ryan Dempster struck out the side.  Carlos Zambrano, Dan Haren, and George Sherrill all pitched at least 2 scoreless Innings.  Scott Kazmir pitched a scoreless 15th Inning for the Win.

Monday, June 23rd
Richie Weeks had 3 Hits.  Pitcher Felix Hernandez hit a Grand Slam.  Mark Teahan had 3 RBI.  Mike Cameron, Matt Holliday (2 Hits), and Jose Guillen (2 Hits) had 2 RBI each.  Ryan Braun, Kelly Johnson, Jose Lopez, Jose Reyes, Carlos Beltran, Chris Young, Mike Aviles, Erick Aybar, Howie Kendrick, Cristian Guzman, and Willie Harris each had a pair of Hits.

Ben Sheets pitched a Complete game four-hitter allowing 1 Run with 7 Ks to improve to 9-1 with a 2.59 ERA.  Dan Haren tossed 7 scoreless Innings of two-hit ball to improve to 8-4 with a 3.04 ERA.  Josh Beckett gave up 2 Runs on 5 Hits in 8 Innings with 8 Ks, but took the loss.  Brian Bannister gave up 3 unearned Runs on 3 Hits in 7 Innings to improve to 7-6.  John Lackey gave up 1 Run in 8 Innings to improve to 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA.  Jason Bergmann gave up 1 Run in 7 Innings, but earned a no-decision.

Wednesday, June 18th

went 4 of 5 with 2 Runs, a Double, a HR, and 4 RBI.  Placido Polanco went 4 for 4 with 3 Runs, a Double, 2 RBI, and a Walk.  Dustin Pedroia, Johnny Damon, A-Rod, Wilson Betemit, Craig Counsell, Andre Ethier, Vernon Wells, Cristian Guzman, Elijah Dukes, Carlos Gomez, Stephen Drew, Orlando Hudson, Chad Tracy, Jose Vidro, and Jose Reyes (3 Runs) each had 3 Hits.  Gregg Zaun, Chris  Young, Dan Haren, Mike Jacobs, and Justin Morneau had 3 RBI.  Jeff Baker, Jorege Cantu, and Hanley Ramirez each scored 3 Runs.

Armando Galarraga allowed 2 unearned runs in 6 Innings with 5 Ks to improve to 7-2 with a 3.03 ERA.  Jeremy Guthrie (8 Innings, 1 Run, 3 Hits, 8 Ks) and Brian Moehler (6-1/3 Innings, 1 Run) battled to no-decisions.  Derek Lowe gave up 1 Run on 3 Hits in 5-1/3 Innings with 6 Ks to improve to 5-6 with a 3.90 ERA.  Ben Sheets gave up 2 Runs on 4 Hits in 6 innings with 5 Ks to improve to 8-1 with a 2.74 ERA.  Jo-Jo Reyes gave up 1 Earned Run on 5 Hits in a 7 Inning no-decision.  Kevin Slowey gave up 1 Run in 6 Innings to improve to 4-6.  Jason Bergmann gave up 1 Earned Run in 6 Innings, but took the Loss.  Mark Buehrle gave up 2 Runs on 4 Hits in 8 Innings to improve to 4-6.  Brian Banniser gave up 2 Runs in 7 Innings to even his record at 6-6.  Braden Looper gave up 1 Run on 5 Hits in a 7 Inning no-decision.  Jeff Francis gave up 1 Earned Run on 5 Hits in 6 Innings to improve to 3-6.  Dan Haren gave up 1 Run on 4 Hits with 8 Ks in 7 Innings to improve to 7-4 with a 3.26 ERA.  Jon Garland gave up 2 Earned Runs in a 6 Inning no-decision.  Ryan Tucker gave up 2 Runs in 6 Innings to improve to 2-1.

Thursday, June 12th

had 4 Hits and 3 RBI.  Jamey Carroll went 4 for 4.  MIke Lowell and Hideki Matsui each hit a Grand Slam.  Cristian Guzman (3 RBI), Darin Erstad, Kelly Johnson, Geovany Soto, John Bowker (3 Runs), Edgar Gonzalez, Justin Morneau, each had 3 Hits.  Ryan Doumit, German Duran, Corey Hart, Fred Lewis, Rich Aurilia, Garrett Atkins, Brian Giles, Shin-Soo Choo, and Brandon Phillips each had 3 RBI.

Jamie Moyer pitched 8 scorless Innings allowing 2 Hits to improve to 7-3.  Johan Santana pitched 7 scoreless Innings allowing 3 Runs while striking out 10.  His bullpen cost him the victory though.  Mark Buehlre (8 Innings, 1 Run, 6 Ks) and Kenny Rogers (8 Innings, 1 Run, 4 Hits) battled to no-decisions.  Dan Haren gave up 2 Runs in a 6 Inning no-decision.  Ben Sheets gave up 3 Runs in 7 Innings with 9 Ks to improve to 7-1 with a 2.72 ERA.  Carlos Zambrano (7 Innings, 2 Runs) and Tim Hudson (6-2/3 Innings, 1 Run, 5 Ks) battled to no-decisions.  Jake Peavy returned from the DL with 6 scoreless Innings allowing 3 Hits to improve to 5-3 with a 2.64 ERA.  Jon Lester gave up 2 Runs in 7 Innings to improve to 5-3 with a 3.43 ERA.  Aaron Laffey gave up 1 Run on 5  Hits in 6 Innings to improve to 4-3 with a 2.83 ERA.  Bronson Arroyo tossed 6 scoreless Innings give up just 2 Hits in a no-decision.  Scott Olsen gave up 1 Earned Run in 7 Innings with 7 Ks, but took a Loss.  Andy Pettitte gave up 1 Run on 5 Hits in 8 Innings with 6 Ks to improve to 6-5.
