20 December 2010

I occasionally get e-mail sent to me at contact@lesterslegends.com from people to spread the word about an article or a promotion. I got a couple of such requests today, which I found interesting so I decided to help spread the word.
.
First, is an article from Fantazzle that discusses how fantasy sports are not a distraction or hindrance on working or family environments. There are many bosses and wives that may beg to differ, but it’s an interesting read.

On a lighter note, Ranker has an entertaining look at the five most brutal failures in sports this year. You won’t be surprised to find Mr. Drama himself on the list.

Fantasy Sports Survey

1 July 2009

I was contacted by a doctoral candidate at the University of Northern Colorado who put together a survey on fantasy sports loyalty for his dissertation.  He asked me to share a link to his survey with all of you.  I took the survey personally, and ask you to do the same.  It was an enjoyable survey that will gather information to improve fantasy sports sites.  How can you not like that?  If you get a chance, please take a few moments and follow the link to the survey.

The great people at League Safe have simplified the business side of fantasy sports once again with their revolutionary new Facebook application, LeagueFinder.

Literally everyone and their mother seem to be on Facebook these days.  It’s a perfect place to search for fantasy players that fit the bill you’re looking for.  You can sort by drafting method (online snake draft, online auction, in-person snake draft, in-person auction, or e-mail) and league fees (ranging from free to high stakes $1000+).  “There are a large number of fantasy owners out there just looking for more leagues to play in. Right now, these people find each other only by expending a lot of time and energy posting on disorganized, informal message boards or by word of mouth,” said League Safe President Paul Charchian. “With LeagueFinder, we’ve completely revolutionized the process of finding fantasy leagues to play in. Now, fantasy owners have a standardized product designed exclusively to connect them with interested parties, and it’s simple to use.”

You can join a random group of people or create your own private league that you and your gang from high school that you just found on Facebook can do together.  “On Facebook, your friends are already right there at your fingertips. With the click of a button, you can invite them to your fantasy league,” said Charchian. “Or, you can make new friends that share the same interests as you do. Either way, you’re interacting with people who share a common love of fantasy sports.”  Fantasy sports and Facebook.  Seems like a perfect marriage to me.

For more information and to add the Facebook application, visit http://apps.facebook.com/leaguefinder/

LeagueFinder has launched as a Beta release on Facebook in time for the 2009 fantasy baseball season, and has plans to support fantasy football, fantasy golf, fantasy basketball, fantasy hockey, and fantasy NASCAR during the coming year. It has strategic and business alliances in place with several third-party providers and will eventually offer users the option of transferring shared data to providers of online league administrative and other fantasy services.

If you haven’t hear about League Safe, let me break it down for you:

Is your fantasy football draft done online without a get together?  I understand if you have people who live far enough away that it just isn’t feasible.  I also understand if you choose to put aside some time during your workday or it’s easier for you to get to OK from your better half if you don’t actually leave the house.  I still think the best way to do a draft is getting together over beer and wings and such.  It’s half the fun really.  You can give the last place finisher crap and ridicule the guy (girl) who made the trade that imploded his (her) team.  However, there are circumstances when getting everyone together is nearly impossible and the autodraft feature helps fill out the roster.  Judging by some of the people I’ve played with over the years, they’d be better off to have the computer picking any way.

Alternatively, say you do get together.  There’s always one owner who conveniently forgets their cash or checkbook.  It happens every year.  You’ve got to do everything in your power, just short of calling in a collection agency, to get the money, especially if there team is in the tank.  That’s a headache that the commissioner doesn’t need.

Well if you have either of these problems, I’ve discovered a solution .  Let me start by saying I have no affiliation with this service, but found it interesting and decided to pass it on to you.  It’s called League Safe

league-safe.gif League Safe is a free service (they collect the interest on your money I assume) that allows your owners to pay online.  The entry fees go  into one of LeagueSafe’s FDIC-insured partner bank (US Bank or The Bancorp Bank).  At the end of the season you just validate who the winners are and what the payouts are going to be.  Within three to ten days you get your money.

If you’re on-the-fence about whether or not this is a good idea for your league, just know that fantasy guru Paul Charchian is the Founder and President of League Safe.

What is playSPEX?

playSPEX adds an exciting new dimension to Fantasy Sports. It’s the only place where you can Buy your fantasy sports players from others using real money and Sell your players to other users and earn Real Money!

playSPEX is being launched this week, and there is a $10,000 in prizes for the upcoming April’s Fantasy Baseball contest!

Early registrants will receive $10 FREE to start shopping for their fantasy baseball players. In addition, playSPEX will match any deposit with 100% welcome bonus up to additional $25!

How does it work?

  1. playSPEX organizes Fantasy Sports contests in which the participants can win cash prizes.
  2. The object is to build the best Fantasy Team which accumulates more Fantasy Points than others. Points are based on a real-life performance (players’ statistics).
  3. In order to “have” an athlete in a Fantasy Team, the user must “OWN” that player.
  4. In order to be the “owner” of a player, the user must BUY from other user/s in the market at least one virtual contract of his desired athlete using real money.
  5. The contracts are virtual assets/virtual properties, which don’t have any expiration (even after the end of the first season and during the next seasons).
  6. The user who own contracts can offer to sell them to others at any time and/or accept buy offers which have been published by others in the market.
  7. The user can therefore make real profits, just like buying and selling items in any other trading platform (For example: ebay).

Who doesn’t like it when things are simpler?  Who would rather call somebody repeatedly rather than have automated system that sends reminders to delinquent fantasy players?  Who wouldn’t pay a small fee to rid yourselves of this type of headache?  Well, I’ve got great news for you.  LeagueSafe  just launched it’s revolutionary services for both fantasy basketball and fantasy hockey, and it’s FREE!  How cool is that?

League Safe is a free service that allows your owners to pay online.  The entry fees go  into one of LeagueSafe’s FDIC-insured partner banks (US Bank or The Bancorp Bank).  At the end of the season you just validate who the winners are and what the payouts are going to be.  Within three to ten days you get your money.  Nothing could be easier.

If you’re on-the-fence about whether or not this is a good idea for your league, just know that fantasy guru Paul Charchian is the Founder and President of League Safe.
