The Eagles Finally Make Their Splash

Apr 17, 2009

After a uncomfortable quiet Offseason, the Eagles finally made waves according to a Fox Sport report.  They have reportedly sent the 28th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft to the Buffalo Bills for two-time Pro Bowl Left Tackle Jason Peters.  Philadelphia also has the 21st pick in the draft so their second pick was expendable.  Earlier the Eagles allowed Tra Thomas, who spent 12 years with the club, to depart via free agency signing with Jacksonville.

Peters is just 27 years old and is a behemoth at 6’4″, 340 Lbs.  He has helped pave the way for back-to-back 1000 yard seasons for the troubled Marshawn Lynch.  Donovan McNabb will find comfort in having his blindside protected by such a capable Tackle, and Brian Westbrook and company should find plenty of running lanes.  I have been quick to criticize the Eagles, but I must commend them for this move.

In a draft that is loaded with Offensive Lineman, Buffalo should be able to find a decent replacement should they choose to go that route.  Oklahoma’s Phil Loadholt is an ideal candidate.  Buffalo also possesses the #11 pick in the draft, which they will likely use to bolster their anemic pass rush.

This is fine, But the Eagles need someone to catch the ball
They should be going after Bouldin or Edwards
