The Return of Michael Vick

Aug 27, 2009

All thing considered, Michael Vick played a pretty good game tonight.  In typical Andy Reid fashion, Vick and the Eagles offense didn’t tip their hand too much.  He played some Wildcat, but only ran the ball once, for a one yard game.  He was four for four with 19 yards.  Three of his passes were short connections (2 & 4 yard completions to LeSean McCoy & no gain completion to DeSean Jackson).  He did show off his arm a little in a 13 yard completion to Hank Baskett.

There were some protests for Vick, which was to be expected.  For the most part the fans welcomed him.  The story may be different when he’s on the road, but I think most fans have heard enough about Vick’s past and just want to move forward.

Vick is a popular pick in the last round of fantasy drafts, but I would only suggest doing it as a gag.  Even if his suspension is reduced, he just isn’t going to play a major role in this Offense.  Even if McNabb goes down they would turn to Kevin Kolb and likely A.J. Feeley before trusting a Super Bowl caliber team with a QB who hasn’t played since 2006.  Especially one that wasn’t particularly effective in his prime.

I had the game on live, (Jags feed) The fans were supportive for the most part. The eagles are not about to show anything they are planning to do with him, Of course I really just cannot get into games yet
Tony Bosseli thinks that Vick will help them quite a bit when he gets back

I don’t know how much he’ll help. I’d like to see McNabb and Vick in the backfield together taking alternating snaps. Actually, I kind of would like to see other teams try that to see if it would work.

Hi, I guess this is as good a place to post this as any. I tried to subscribe to your RSS feed and kept getting long error messages and it froze up my computer and I had to reboot and start over. Never did get it figured out and gave up. Oh well, it is probably me, not your blog.

The Vick story will be interesting to watch. I hope that he gets his life in order, after all, he’s got a good man (Tony Dungy) in his corner. Vick made poor choices and paid for it. Forgiveness is a powerful word, so I hope people give him a chance … and that he takes advantage of his life and opportunity …. football is a vehicle for him, but not the most important thing.

I heard this morning that McNabb pulled the plug on Vick playing any more, The feeling is that Vick coming in and out disrupts the flow of the game.
I think McNabb regrets lobbying to get him.
    a few other notes, T
They say Vick’s legs and conditioning is at about 40%
Also I heard a report that many players say they “Are With Vick”
The question was asked is it, (Hey we hope you get your life together?)
or (I can’t believe you went to jail for That)
It seems that over 1/2 the players don’t think Vick did anything THAT bad.

This could get real ugly in Philly if this goes bad.
