Time to Bail on Kyle Rudolph?

Oct 26, 2012

.
In his past two games Minnesota tight end Kyle Rudolph has two catches for 17 yards. Even more discouraging is the fact that he only received two targets.
.
The Vikings and quarterback Christian Ponder are out of sync. The Arizona game was disguised by the win, but he couldn’t hide from Thursday’s ugly loss.
.
Other than Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin the Vikings look terrible on offense. The defense has been pretty ugly in two of the past three games, but that’s a different story for fantasy owners. Besides, I still think they’re a decent unit that can be used based on match-up.
.
I’m not sure the same could be said for Rudolph.
.
For starters, there are plenty of capable tight ends out there. No, you’re not going to swoop up a Gronk off the waiver wire, but odds are in most leagues there is a tight end capable of putting up more than the 30.3 yards per game Rudolph is averaging.
.
Granted, they likely won’t be red zone threats like Rudolph, who has five touchdowns, but it’s hard to catch touchdowns when they aren’t even throwing the ball your way.
.
The Vikings have Seattle next week so the immediate future doesn’t look bright. Next up is Detroit, who Rudolph had eight yards on two catches against in the first meeting. That’s followed by a bye.
.
Then he faces the Bears twice with the Packers sandwiched in between, the Rams, and the Texans. Not pretty.
.
I think it’s time to cut your losses and find someone that could give you more production.
